Many cultural and artistic activities, including mobile film screenings, have been promoted and directed towards the grassroots, serving the people's spiritual and cultural needs while contributing to traditional education , fostering national pride, and creating cohesion within the community.

Attractive cultural and artistic activities

The highlight of this year's events is a spectacular fireworks display at 13 locations across the city on the evening of April 30th. Specifically, the wards of Tran Bien, Binh Phuoc, and the commune of Dai Phuoc will have high-altitude fireworks displays. The 10 newly recognized wards – Trang Bom, Long Thanh, Tri An, Nhon Trach, Tan Khai, Xuan Loc, Tan Phu, Loc Ninh, Dau Giay, and Dong Phu – will also simultaneously celebrate with low-altitude fireworks displays.

At the same time, a large-scale art program commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, and the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, was organized, connecting live television broadcasts from multiple locations, including Tran Bien ward, Binh Phuoc ward, two new wards (one in northern Dong Nai and one in southern Dong Nai), and the Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio and Television studio. The program, produced by the Dong Nai Art Theater and the Cultural and Film Center, offered a rich and captivating artistic experience for the people.

In the communes and wards, a variety of cultural and artistic activities were also simultaneously organized. According to Nguyen Viet Doi, Vice Chairman of the Tan Khai Ward People's Committee, the locality organized a series of activities on April 30th, including visiting the Binh Long Martyrs' Cemetery; offering incense at the Tau O checkpoint victory site and the memorial monument for martyrs. On the afternoon of April 30th, the ceremony to announce the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Tan Khai ward took place at the ward's People's Committee hall. That evening, an art program titled "Melodies of Faith and Aspiration" was held, combined with low-altitude fireworks at the ward's administrative center.

Meanwhile, Trang Bom ward organized an art program with the theme "Trang Bom Continues to Write a Glorious Chapter in History" on the evening of April 30th at the ward's stadium, along with a low-altitude fireworks display. The program featured many famous artists from Ho Chi Minh City, such as People's Artist Thu Hien; and singers Huynh De, Mai Xoan, Xuan Tai, Thanh Duy, Hien Luong, etc., creating a highlight that attracted many locals and tourists.

In Long Khanh ward, activities such as visiting and giving gifts to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution and their relatives are carried out in parallel with mass cultural and artistic programs at Long Khanh Victory Monument Park, contributing to showing gratitude and spreading historical values. On the evening of April 30th, Long Khanh ward broadcast live the fireworks display at the planned locations as instructed by the Provincial People's Committee.

During this year's April 30th and May 1st holiday period, which lasted four days from April 30th to May 3rd, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism intensified inspection and supervision efforts, promptly addressing cultural activities and business operations related to culture, sports, and tourism at historical sites and destinations. This ensured a joyful and safe holiday for both residents and tourists.

Promote mobile film screenings to serve local communities.

Not only concentrated in central areas, visual propaganda and mobile film screenings were implemented synchronously, creating a vibrant appearance along the main roads of communes and wards, and in cultural centers of hamlets, villages, and neighborhoods. Banners and posters commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026) were widely displayed, contributing to the rekindling of national pride.

According to Bui Xuan Linh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Xoai Ward, in addition to visual propaganda and promotion activities, and offering incense at the historical site of the founding of the Indochina Communist Party branch to celebrate major holidays, the locality coordinates with the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center to conduct mobile film screenings for the people at Dong Xoai Ward Park, Tien Thanh 2 neighborhood; Bung Se neighborhood cultural house; and Lang Ba neighborhood park. Simultaneously, the locality organizes campaigns to strengthen patrols, control, and manage urban order; and effectively carries out street and public area cleaning and household solid waste collection.

Nguyen Tien Dung, Head of the Film Department at the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center, said: “Mobile film screenings continue to be effective. Our film screening team has organized hundreds of screenings, serving people in hamlets, villages, neighborhoods, and remote areas. The films focus on historical themes, revolutionary wars, and the image of President Ho Chi Minh, thereby educating people about traditions and strengthening their faith. In April 2026 alone, the unit organized 182 screenings, attracting over 17,300 viewers with many films such as: 'Crane Returns to the South,' 'Red Rain,' 'My Wife's Husband,' 'Colors of the Mountains,' 'My Monster Brother,' etc.”

Besides screening films, the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center actively brings the "Epic of Great Victory" cultural program to serve people in remote areas, ethnic minority regions, and border areas. In particular, the Dong Nai City Traditional Music Club organized many performances themed "Southern Melodies" on the occasion of the April 30th and May 1st holidays at public cultural spaces in the wards of Tran Bien, Tam Hiep, Phuoc Tan, etc.

The series of cultural and artistic activities commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and celebrating the establishment of Dong Nai City has become a bridge connecting the glorious past with the dynamic present. Through these activities, it affirms the strong vitality and aspiration for progress of Dong Nai, a land undergoing transformation, confidently integrating and developing sustainably.
