On September 23, the People's Committee of Da Nang City coordinated with the IRONMAN Group to hold a press conference to announce the IRONMAN Full-Distance Triathlon, scheduled to take place in Da Nang on May 10, 2026, with the participation of thousands of international athletes.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee, said that being selected to host the first IRONMAN full-distance triathlon in Vietnam is an important milestone in Da Nang's international integration process, and at the same time demonstrates the city's ability to organize world-class sporting events.
“Da Nang will mobilize all resources, prepare infrastructure, human resources and closely coordinate with partners to make the tournament successful, thereby promoting the image of a modern, dynamic and attractive city to international friends,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

The full IRONMAN consists of three challenging events: a 3.8km swim at East Sea Park, a 180km bike ride through the coastal and suburban areas, and finally a 42.2km marathon run along the Da Nang coast. This is a tough challenge, likened to the “long march” of endurance sports, and only athletes with exceptional will and physical strength can conquer it.
In particular, the tournament will be held in parallel with IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang, an event that has become an international sports brand associated with the city since 2015, attracting a large number of athletes and tourists.
