On this occasion, the Da Nang Library organized many activities to celebrate the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2026 with a series of outstanding events lasting from April to the end of May 2026. Notable among these were the 2nd Da Nang Reading Culture Festival and the Storytelling Contest based on books in 2026, organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Education and Training and the Hai Chau Ward People's Committee; the Da Nang Library was the implementing unit. The program took place from May 16-24, 2026 at APEC Park.

This is one of the meaningful activities to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026), the 72nd anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2026), and also to respond to the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2026. Many vibrant activities were organized, such as: displaying and exhibiting information resources; promoting and introducing books; seminars and exchanges introducing new authors and works; cultural and artistic exchanges; screening documentary films; poetry and music programs; journeys to learn about history along with experiential activities related to books and campaigns to support book donations for libraries.

Students have an experience at the Da Nang Library.

Simultaneously, the Da Nang Library coordinated the implementation of a series of events showcasing information resources and promoting books in many communes, wards, and armed forces units such as Tam Ky, Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc, Son Cam Ha, Tra My, the 375th Air Defense - Air Force Division, and the Da Nang City Police. Each locality and unit organized an average of 5-7 days with many diverse activities such as: discounted book sales, themed exhibitions, artistic book stacking competitions, book introductions, thematic talks, and providing mobile library services...

In addition, the Da Nang Library proactively coordinated with the People's Committees of communes and wards such as Tam Ky, Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc, Son Cam Ha, and Tra My to develop a joint plan to implement the Book and Reading Culture Day in 2026. Localities organized many attractive activities such as book stalls, artistic book arrangements, book introductions, film screenings, poetry and music nights, etc., attracting a large number of people and readers to participate.

A notable highlight is the mobile multimedia library program, which has been deployed to 70 reading points in schools and community reading areas, especially in remote, disadvantaged areas of the city. The program has served nearly 38,000 readers with over 110,000 books circulated.

The circulation and donation of books to school libraries and rural development communes also contributes to strengthening the resource pool, improving the efficiency of using books, newspapers, and magazines, and meeting the reading and research needs of students and teachers. This further spreads the reading movement in the community, fostering reading habits and a love for reading in families, schools, and society.

In response to the 2026 National Book and Reading Culture Day, many localities organized book festivals lasting 3-5 days with diverse activities such as: exchanging and trading publications; displaying and exhibiting books by theme; artistic book stacking competitions; storytelling based on books; character dressing; a quiz on knowledge about Vietnam's National Book and Reading Culture Day; author and work exchanges; cultural and artistic exchanges; and experiences with digital and electronic libraries. These activities took place enthusiastically in many localities such as An Hai, Ban Thach, Tam Ky, Hoi An, Thanh Khe, Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc, etc.

In localities that do not yet have the conditions to organize large-scale events, the Center for Public Service Provision, in coordination with the Da Nang Library, is implementing the mobile library extracurricular activity "Light of Knowledge," combining the circulation of information resources, maintaining the effectiveness of school libraries and reading corners, and launching a reading movement in response to the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2026 in areas such as Ngu Hanh Son, An Khe, Lien Chieu, Hai Van, Cam Le, Hoa Tien, Thu Bon, Que Phuoc…

Mobile library vehicle program

In parallel, the construction and development of "community libraries," "family libraries," and "green libraries" have been widely launched in many localities such as Hoi An, Hoa Khanh, Hoa Vang, Que Son, Hiep Duc, and Kham Duc, aiming to mobilize book resources from the people and contribute to enriching community libraries at village and neighborhood cultural centers.

For school library systems, the City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Education and Training and schools in the area, organized many activities to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, such as: book knowledge contests, online book introductions, promotion on digital platforms and social networks; organizing exhibitions, storytelling based on books, drawing based on books, and implementing 6 mobile library programs "Light of Knowledge" from March to May 2026.

Schools are also promoting various models for developing a reading culture, such as: donating books, building classroom libraries, organizing "Reading Culture Ambassador" competitions, Book Reading Days, drawing book covers, writing reflections after reading sessions; implementing the "Digital Library at Your Fingertips" model through QR codes at classroom doors; organizing "Reading Time with Your Child" activities; and creating short videos introducing books to post on online class groups.

Through a series of activities in response to the 2026 National Book and Reading Culture Day, the awareness of officials, teachers, students, parents, and the general public about the role and significance of books and reading culture will continue to be enhanced, contributing to building a healthy educational environment and spreading a love of books in the community.
