In 2024, accommodation establishments are expected to serve 10.75 million guests, a 45% increase compared to 2023; of which, international guests are estimated at 4.1 million, a twofold increase compared to the same period in 2023, and domestic guests are estimated at 6.65 million, a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Revenue from accommodation, food, and travel in 2024 is estimated to exceed 34 trillion VND, a 25% increase compared to 2023.
According to Ms. An, over the years, Da Nang has been asserting its position as one of the leading destinations in the region, not only because of its beautiful natural scenery but also thanks to the professionalism and hospitality of its people and tourism workforce. Among them, the reception staff, the face of the hotel, are the first and last people to leave a lasting impression on tourists.
"The competition is not only a healthy and beneficial playground, but also a place to connect, share, and develop sustainable values of Da Nang's tourism industry," Ms. An said.

The competition will contribute to building the image of a professional, friendly, and hospitable reception team, thereby honoring the hotel reception profession, recognizing receptionists with excellent professional skills, expertise, and foreign language proficiency, and creating opportunities for students of tourism training schools to learn and gain experience in the hotel reception profession.
Reportedly, the preliminary round of the competition, with the participation of nearly 50 contestants representing hotels and tourism vocational training institutions throughout the city, was held on December 10th with a professional skills and foreign language test. From there, the 10 contestants with the highest scores were selected to advance to the final round, which will take place on December 17th and will include a creative presentation about their institution and answering questions from the judging panel.
Based on the results of each contestant in the final round (scores in descending order), the Organizing Committee will award 10 prizes to 10 contestants. In addition, the competition will also have supplementary prizes such as the best dressed contestant, the most creative and impressive hotel presentation, the best answer to a question in Chinese, and the best answer to a question in English, to encourage, inspire, and honor skilled and professional receptionists. Furthermore, there will be voucher prizes for services with a total value of nearly 100 million VND.
Through this competition, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a healthy and beneficial playground, strengthening solidarity in the tourism sector among tourism service businesses and tourism training institutions in the city. This will further improve the quality of the workforce in the tourism industry, especially the reception staff at hotels in the city, who play a crucial role in affirming the quality of service and Da Nang's position on the domestic and international tourism map.
