Chrysanthemums – a 'specialty' flower of Hanoi – are still attracting buyers despite their price doubling. Meanwhile, plum branches from Northwest Vietnam, which arrived in Hanoi early, are also selling well at 150,000 VND per bunch.
Hanoi's "specialty" products double in price, but customers are still willing to pay the extra to buy them.
The chrysanthemum season in Nhat Tan (Hanoi) suffered heavy damage due to Super Typhoon Yagi . Some gardens with a few remaining flowers were harvested by locals and sold at double the price of last year.
According to a survey by VTC News reporters, Nhat Tan daisies are being sold on the market for 150,000-180,000 VND per bunch, much more expensive than daisies grown in other regions, which are priced at 120,000-150,000 VND per bunch. Sellers say that Nhat Tan daisies usually have larger buds, thicker petals, and are whiter and more beautiful than daisies grown elsewhere.
Besides selling flowers, many people also arrange bouquets of daisies into baskets, trays, or carrying poles for customers to rent for photo shoots, at a price of a few tens of thousands of dong per rental.

Although there are still more than two months until the Lunar New Year, flowers characteristic of the holiday, such as peach blossoms and plum blossoms, have already begun to appear in Hanoi. According to Tien Phong newspaper, the appearance of peach and plum branches on the streets at this time of year is not only a highlight but also attracts many flower-loving shoppers.
Mr. Hung, a vendor at Quang An flower market, said that plum blossoms are just beginning to bloom, and the quantity is limited. Early plum branches are large, with plump buds, and the prices are quite reasonable compared to the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). However, prices are higher than last year due to the impact of recent floods, which significantly reduced the number of beautiful branches. Currently, each bunch of plum blossoms, containing about 5-6 branches, sells for 150,000 VND.
According to many small traders, the trend of displaying plum and peach blossoms during Tet (Lunar New Year) will increase, especially as consumers increasingly favor products with traditional values and a connection to nature. This year, plum and peach branches from Northwest Vietnam are expected to be in high demand because the peach trees in Nhat Tan suffered significant damage from Typhoon No. 3.
When durian is in season , it's found only in Vietnam, and the price sky-high.
Durian exports in just one month brought in approximately 16.85 trillion VND. Notably, the "king of fruits" is entering its peak season, a harvest unique to Vietnam, leading to soaring prices.
In recent days, durian prices in growing regions have increased sharply due to supply shortages, while demand remains high. Mr. Nguyen Nhat from Xuan Dinh commune (Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province) said that the price of Thai durian in the Southeast region has approached 200,000 VND/kg for grade 1 durian, while Ri6 durian is being purchased at warehouses at 150,000 VND/kg.
Regarding the reasons for the sharp increase in durian prices, Mr. Huynh Tan Loc, Director of Ngu Hiep Durian Cooperative (Tien Giang), said that this year's weather was unfavorable for this crop. Therefore, although there were many durian flowers, the fruit setting rate was low, leading to a significant decrease in production during the off-season compared to the same period last year.

"In the Mekong Delta, there are currently hundreds of durian purchasing centers. The supply is scarce, and traders are scouring every orchard, driving up durian prices," Mr. Loc said.
In particular, the off-season durian harvest, which begins in October this year and lasts until February next year, is also the time when Vietnam almost monopolizes the world market for fresh, whole durian fruit because other countries have finished their harvest season. At the same time, Vietnamese businesses that have signed export orders with Chinese partners are obligated to deliver on time, so at this time, they will buy at any price to meet their quotas. Tickets for Tet holiday flights are selling slowly.
With more than two months left until Tet (Lunar New Year), the airline ticket market is quite sluggish, although tickets are still available for many routes that are usually busy in previous years.
According to VTV, on routes to popular tourist destinations such as Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, or Con Dao, where tickets usually sell out quickly in previous years, this year there are still many options with flexible schedules. Round-trip tickets cost only from 2.6-3.6 million VND, a price not much different from normal days and even lower than the same period last year.
Popular routes like Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Da Nang, and Vinh still have tickets available, with round-trip prices ranging from 5.7 to 7.4 million VND (including taxes and fees).
