Celebrating the Great National Unity Day with the ethnic people of Lang Son province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to continue consolidating, strengthening and promoting domestic and international solidarity, thereby bringing about specific products and measurable results, contributing to a prosperous and happy life, with material and spiritual life higher year after year for the people.
On the morning of November 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the National Great Unity Day 2024 at residential area 8, Na Sam town, Van Lang district, Lang Son province.
Also attending the festival were leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, branches, central agencies, Lang Son province, Cao Bang province, and many ethnic people in the residential area.
The National Great Unity Day takes place annually on the occasion of the anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18), organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in coordination with Party committees and local authorities in residential areas to honor the fine traditional values of the Vietnamese people, while strengthening the spirit of solidarity and village and neighborhood ties among all people.
At the festival, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with delegates, officials, party members and people of all ethnic groups, reviewed the 94-year tradition of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; listened to reports on the situation of the great national unity bloc and the results of implementing campaigns and patriotic emulation movements in 2024 in the locality.
Lang Son is a mountainous, border province, belonging to the ethnic minority region, with a population of nearly 814,000 people. In the province, there are 199/200 communes, wards and towns in the ethnic minority and mountainous regions, with 7 main ethnic groups, the proportion of ethnic minorities accounts for 83.91% of the province's population.
In recent times, in Lang Son province in general, Van Lang district and Na Sam town in particular, economic sectors have continued to develop stably; culture and society have achieved positive results, the fine cultural identities of ethnic groups have been preserved, conserved and promoted. Education, health care and social security have been fully and promptly implemented, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved. National defense and security have been maintained, social order and safety have been ensured.
In residential area 8, the Party Committee and government have been proactive in flood and storm prevention, especially the recent storm No. 3; promptly mobilizing resources to support affected people (12 households had their houses flooded; 20 households had their crops affected by about 2.3 hectares; forestry lost 2,400 trees of production timber...).
100% of households have signed a commitment to ensure security, order and social safety; no theft, no drug addiction...; built a model of cultural and artistic clubs in residential areas; weddings are organized according to the residential area's conventions; funerals do not scatter votive paper money, do not leave it past the deadline...; the construction of bright, green, clean and beautiful neighborhoods has achieved positive results.
Activities of gratitude, humanitarianism, charity, and the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area have received active response from the people (there are 4 households left, of which 2 will have their temporary houses eliminated before Tet).
Great solidarity is a spiritual value, a core value.
Speaking at the event, in a joyful, excited and united atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy at attending the National Great Unity Day and, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, sent to the elders, grandparents, uncles, brothers, sisters and children attending the Festival his best wishes, wishing the Festival to be joyful, united and successful.
According to the Prime Minister, Lang Son and Cao Bang are border provinces with very important positions in politics, economy, culture, national security and defense, foreign affairs, poverty reduction and have the conditions to become rich. However, the provinces still have bottlenecks, especially in transportation and high-quality human resources.
Therefore, the Prime Minister wishes to attend the Great Unity Day here to contribute to promoting the training of high-quality human resources, developing strategic infrastructure, unleashing resources from transportation, promoting digital transformation in the northern mountainous provinces in general and Cao Bang and Lang Son in particular.
The Prime Minister emphasized that solidarity is a precious tradition of our nation. Under the leadership of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, this precious tradition continues to be highly promoted in the past struggle for national independence and reunification and in the current cause of renovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.
The organization of the National Great Unity Day in recent years has brought about noble spiritual values, enriched revolutionary will, honored community strength, and contributed to the successful implementation of political, economic, cultural, and social tasks in each village, hamlet, residential group, and residential area across the country.
This year's National Great Unity Day is even more important, as our entire Party, army and people are urgently competing and striving to achieve the highest goals of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels, practically welcoming the success of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and moving towards organizing Party Congresses at all levels, the 14th National Party Congress.
Emphasizing that "having united, we must unite even more", the Prime Minister hopes that the Party Committee, the government and the people will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, especially when facing difficulties and hardships, "help each other in times of need"; at the same time, emphasizing that the Great Solidarity Festival is both an occasion to review the tradition of solidarity and to review what has been done to contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, such as implementing the construction of the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway, eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, or supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and storm No. 3...
Sharing with the people about the achievements and results of the country's socio-economic development in the first 10 months of 2024 in the context of the world situation continuing to develop complicatedly and unpredictably, the Prime Minister stated that these achievements were thanks to the close and timely leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, directly and regularly by the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by the General Secretary; the companionship of the National Assembly and agencies in the political system; the direction and administration of the Government, all levels, sectors and localities; the support and active participation of the business community and people nationwide; and the cooperation and support of international friends. In particular, the especially important factor is the solidarity, unity and spirit of efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges of all our people and our nation.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Lang Son province have made, actively contributing to the overall achievements of the whole country.
In particular, pleased with the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Na Sam town, residential area 8, the Prime Minister was particularly impressed with the results of digital transformation, such as the area having nearly 100 electronic health books, promoting cashless payments...
The Prime Minister was also pleased that the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway project received high consensus from the people of Zone 8, 100% of whom agreed to ensure the project was implemented on schedule; households have moved graves, counted trees and crops, and 100% of households have handed over the site.
"If we have roads, we will have new development space, increased land value, reduced business and travel costs, increased competitiveness, circulation and market access of goods. This will contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of the people," said the Prime Minister.
In addition to the achievements, the local socio-economic situation still faces many difficulties and challenges, and the lives of a segment of the population are still difficult. The Prime Minister requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the people to continue to join hands, uphold the spirit of self-reliance, solidarity, encourage and help poor households and families in difficult circumstances to rise up to have a better life with the spirit of "leaving no one behind".
In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front Committee, and mass organizations of Lang Son province, Van Lang district, Na Sam town, and zone 8 to focus on leading and directing the good implementation of a number of key tasks.
Accordingly, continue to promote good traditions and achievements, summarize and replicate good experiences, good lessons, learn from experience, overcome shortcomings and limitations, resolutely implement the goals of Resolution XIII of the Party and Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels; continue to mobilize people to strengthen and promote the strength of great solidarity, people's mastery under the leadership of the Party, management of the State, the participation of the entire political system, successfully complete local political, economic, cultural and social tasks, with the spirit of "strength originates from the people, people make history".
Organize patriotic emulation movements well; encourage and motivate advanced models, outstanding collectives and individuals, creating new momentum for emulation to successfully carry out assigned tasks. Continue to mobilize and effectively use community resources to promote the spirit of mutual love, sharing, caring and helping the poor, people in especially difficult circumstances, people affected by natural disasters and storm No. 3.
Along with that, it is important to raise people's vigilance against hostile forces' plots to sabotage and exploit ethnic and religious issues to incite and divide the great national unity bloc.
The Prime Minister noted the need to carry out well the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, the emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, complete the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area by 2025 and the emulation movement to build 3,000 km of highways, continue to support the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway project to soon complete the project as planned, contributing to the economic and social development in the area.
As a "fence" locality in the North of the Fatherland, the Prime Minister emphasized that Lang Son needs to focus on doing a good job in ensuring national defense and security, each citizen is a landmark to protect the border and sovereignty; promote foreign affairs, promote trade, improve law enforcement in border areas and border gates, build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border, contributing to strengthening the Vietnam-China friendship "both comrades and brothers" so that each side can promote its different potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas.
The Prime Minister hopes that Lang Son will take the lead in building smart border gates with China, then replicate them in other border provinces; overcome traffic bottlenecks to develop inter-provincial and inter-regional traffic, international connectivity; promote digital transformation, develop digital economy, build digital society, digital citizens according to the Party's policies, the Government's action program and according to the functions, tasks and powers of each level, each sector and each locality. In the working group, there were leaders of the Electricity Group and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group. The Prime Minister requested to study solutions to overcome areas of signal and power depressions in the area (if any) to create conditions to promote digital transformation.
The Prime Minister hopes and believes that in the joyful, exciting, and united atmosphere of today's Festival, bearing in mind the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: "Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success", Party committees at all levels, the government and all people will continue to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, promote revolutionary traditions, national cultural identity, the spirit of mutual love and solidarity, unity between the Party's will and the people's hearts, and determination to strive to build an increasingly developed, prosperous and civilized homeland.
"Great solidarity is the spiritual value, the core value of our nation. Promoting the strength of great national solidarity in each neighborhood, in each town, in each district, in each province, in each country, international solidarity, solidarity with countries around the world, especially neighboring countries; promoting internal and external strength; bringing about measurable products and results, contributing to achieving results higher year after year, higher term after term, and improving the material and spiritual life of the people," the Prime Minister shared with the people.
