This year's Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship will take place from August 6 to August 19, with the participation of host Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia (Group A), Myanmar, U23 Australia, Philippines and Timor Leste (Group B).
Among them, the teams of Vietnam, Thailand and U23 Australia are the leading candidates for the championship of this year's tournament. The host team Vietnam and Thailand are in the same group.

Immediately after arriving in Hai Phong, coach Futoshi Ikeda (Japanese) said: “The Vietnamese women’s football team is very strong. They have a balanced force, and the Vietnamese women’s players have good technique.”
“The Vietnamese women’s team has experience in leading women’s football in the region many times. Therefore, the host team is the biggest challenge for the Thai team in the group stage,” coach Futoshi Ikeda added.
Despite being a highly rated team in this year’s tournament, Thailand’s coach Futoshi Ikeda still appears to be quite modest. The Japanese coach does not think that the women’s team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda is a strong team compared to the Vietnamese women’s team and some other opponents.

Mr. Futoshi Ikeda shared: "Because this tournament is not on FIFA Days (a day when FIFA allows teams around the world to gather and compete according to a unified schedule issued by FIFA), I cannot call up players who are competing abroad."
“Our squad is young, mainly consisting of players playing domestically. I see this as a tournament for my players to gain experience,” said coach Futoshi Ikeda.
The group stage of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship will take place at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong) and Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ). The semi-finals and finals will both take place at Lach Tray Stadium.
