The 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee is a concrete step to realize the aspiration of building the city into a multi-center urban area.

At the press conference, comrade Duong Anh Duc, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that the 1st City Party Congress has the task of reviewing and evaluating the results of the 2020-2025 term.

The Congress sets out directions, goals, tasks, and breakthrough solutions for the 2025-2030 period to optimize resources, concretize new growth drivers, and determine to build Ho Chi Minh City into a multi-centered urban area with economy, finance, services, culture, education, healthcare, science and technology, innovation, smart development, modernity, green and sustainable growth, firmly ensuring national defense, security, foreign affairs, and building a clean, strong and comprehensive Party organization and political system.

The theme of this Congress is “Building a clean and strong Party organization and political system; promoting the strength of national solidarity; making breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and private economic development; strengthening national defense, security, foreign affairs and international integration; mobilizing and effectively using all resources so that Ho Chi Minh City can pioneer with the whole country in the new era”.

According to comrade Duong Anh Duc, the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030 took place in a context of many intertwined opportunities and challenges.

This is a particularly important political event, not only establishing the development direction for the new term, but also laying the foundation for a breakthrough period, turning the city into the leading growth pole in the region.

This congress is considered a concrete step to realize the aspiration of building Ho Chi Minh City into a multi-centered city, where the strengths of the three most dynamic economic regions of the country converge.

Comrade Duong Anh Duc said that the merger of Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces is an unprecedented turning point in the history of urban development in Vietnam.

From there, it opens up opportunities to expand the market, increase investment attraction, connect infrastructure, connect production chains and enhance international position, access financial resources and advanced technology.

This is a comprehensive reconfiguration of the development space, where the three most dynamic economic poles of the country converge, with a new vision as an "international megacity" of Southeast Asia, top 100 most livable cities in the world, to carry out the mission of pioneering, leading and spreading development for the whole country.

However, the City still faces many difficulties due to unsynchronized infrastructure; lack of high-quality human resources; environmental pollution is still challenging; the gap between rich and poor is still large; challenges from competition to attract investment, adapt to climate change, ensure energy security, network security, preserve cultural and social identity, requiring the city to transform its growth model and improve its competitiveness with appropriate, flexible and effective solutions.

The 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, is scheduled to take place from October 13 to 15.

It is known that the summoned delegates are 550 delegates, of which 110 are ex-officio delegates and 440 are appointed delegates, divided into 12 delegation groups. The 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, does not use paper documents (except for confidential documents).
