Building and developing science and technology bookcases

This is one of the important activities that the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations will focus on in the coming time, aiming to innovate and improve the effectiveness of communication activities and dissemination of knowledge on science and technology in the new period.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Master Le Thanh Tung, Head of the Knowledge Dissemination Department, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, emphasized: Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation has identified science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as the top important breakthroughs, the main driving force for the rapid development of modern productive forces.

The Resolution sets out a vision that by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income; by 2045, it will become a developed country with high income with a large digital economy . To achieve these goals, building a strong system of Science and Technology Bookcases is an inevitable requirement, creating a foundation and connecting knowledge for research, training and application activities.

Master Le Thanh Tung delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

According to Master Nguyen Huu Gioi, Chairman of the Vietnam Library Association, it is necessary to soon build and develop the Science and Technology Bookcase. Because, with the characteristics of the Vietnam Union of Associations as a socio-political organization, with 93 national industry associations; 34 local Unions of Associations and more than 500 affiliated science and technology organizations (with a total of more than 2 million science and technology members nationwide).

Therefore, when established and developed, the bookcase will play an important role in helping scientists, experts and members in the entire system of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in scientific research, searching for knowledge and scientific and technological information through the development periods of the country.

When formed, the science and technology bookshelf will include many valuable books and documents of Vietnamese scientists, technologists and technologists through the ages (can be printed documents, electronic documents, audiobooks)... From there, we can build and develop this bookshelf to become stronger and stronger, including tens of thousands of books and valuable documents to spread and connect knowledge to serve the development of science and technology and science and technology in the future.

Sharing about the necessity of building a Science and Technology Bookcase, Master Bui Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Director of Tri Thuc Publishing House, said that currently, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations does not have a science and technology bookcase associated with its functions and tasks, and has not yet promoted the values of its member associations in scientific research and publishing to announce and record scientific research results in the fields in which its member associations have been performing their tasks in the past time.

Therefore, it is necessary to build a Science and Technology Bookcase to record and spread values, contribute to the research treasure, consult on policy development and planning for the Party and State for the fields in which we are performing scientific tasks.

At the workshop, delegates all reached a common conclusion: In the context of Vietnam's efforts to transform itself into a knowledge-based economy and deeply integrate into the international community, building and developing a strong system of science and technology bookcases is no longer an option but a mandatory requirement.

Especially in the era of digitalization and artificial intelligence, which Resolution 57-NQ/TW especially emphasized, the application of advanced technology in the construction and operation of Science and Technology Bookcases is an inevitable trend and brings about breakthrough opportunities, intellectual contributions of scientists and dissemination of knowledge about science and technology to the people.
