Ms. Nguyen Hong Quan, Director of the Ninh Kieu Ward General Service Center, said: “To facilitate the implementation of tasks and the management of the congress, we divided the areas into clusters of units, with one cluster leader in charge of overall operations. Information related to the congress was quickly and promptly disseminated through Zalo groups. We closely coordinated with local clubs and schools to prepare athletes to ensure professional quality.”
Meanwhile, in Nga Bay ward, although there was no opening ceremony, the Games still left a strong impression in terms of organization with 8 competitive events, attracting nearly 500 athletes from 11 delegations. A noteworthy point was the meticulous preparation, from venues and equipment to professional management. By utilizing many available locations in the area, the competitions were arranged efficiently, ensuring safety and convenience for both athletes and spectators.
Overcoming difficulties to reach the finish line.
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, localities are focusing on organizing sports that are popular among the people and have a developing movement, such as football, volleyball, athletics, badminton, swimming, chess, pickleball, petanque, sepak takraw, etc., along with many folk games such as sack racing and slow bicycle racing. This has attracted a large number of athletes and garnered significant public interest.
Several units were highly praised for their organizational work, including Ninh Kieu ward, Co Do commune, Long Tuyen ward, Thanh Xuan commune, Vi Thanh 1 commune, Long My ward, Phu Loi ward, and My Xuyen ward...
However, overall, the implementation of the congress still faced some difficulties, such as coordination and information exchange that were sometimes not smooth; some communes and wards lacked specialized staff in the field of sports and physical education, leading to confusion in providing advice; and facilities and funding were still limited.
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, stated: “The results in organizing the commune-level sports festivals in Can Tho City up to this point are very encouraging, demonstrating the proactiveness and innovation of localities despite limitations in professional personnel, facilities, and funding. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city will continue to direct specialized agencies to send personnel to support localities in organizing the festivals. At the same time, we will urge and remind them to ensure that all 103 communes and wards successfully organize the event on time as planned.”
