Emulation Congress to win the Border Guard of Dong Thap province

DTO - On June 27, the Border Guard of Dong Thap province organized the Emulation Congress for Victory (TĐQT) for the period 2019 - 2024. Major General Nguyen Hoai Phuong - Deputy Commander of the Border Guard and representatives of relevant agencies and units attended.

Over the past 5 years, the emulation and reward work and the unit's emulation and reward movement have always closely followed the guidance and direction of superiors and the political tasks set forth by the unit; the emulation directions and targets are consistent with the unit's characteristics and situation, focusing on the grassroots and linking the emulation and reward movement with specialized and thematic emulation movements and campaigns; gradually innovating and improving the effectiveness of emulation discipline, creating strong changes in working discipline, especially in carrying out assigned political tasks.

In particular, the Border Guard has proactively coordinated with functional forces to grasp the situation, manage subjects and strengthen the fight against all kinds of crimes, smuggling and trade fraud. Thereby, 1,269 cases/168 subjects were detected, arrested and handled, with evidence of 3kg of 9999 gold, more than 787,000 packs of foreign cigarettes, more than 67,200kg of Thai sugar... with a total value of tens of billions of VND; 588 cases/1,107 subjects were arrested and handled and 16 cases/27 subjects were prosecuted for illegal entry and exit. In particular, 9 cases/10 subjects were arrested for illegal transportation and trading of drugs, with evidence of more than 94kg of various types of drugs and 5.1 liters of liquid drugs.

The Border Guard coordinated with departments, branches and sectors to mobilize organizations and individuals to build and put into use 3 clean water projects in border areas, worth more than 2 billion VND; implemented the construction of 202 houses for the poor with a capital of 9.5 billion VND; organized the planting and care of nearly 20,700 bamboo trees with a total length of more than 20,600m; sent more than 920 officers and soldiers/1,322 working days to help people repair houses, overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and clean up the environment.

The Border Guard continues to maintain the programs and models being implemented such as: Love Rice Jar, Helping Children Go to School, Adopted Children of Border Guard Station, giving gifts to policy families, poor households, single-parent families... which have contributed to the good implementation of social security policies in border areas.

The commendation work ensures publicity, fairness, democracy, and compliance with regulations in the direction of giving priority to the grassroots level, thus promptly motivating officers and soldiers to strive to compete and achieve many high achievements, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the Fatherland's borders, building a strong and comprehensive "Exemplary and typical" unit.

Speaking at the congress, Major General Nguyen Hoai Phuong - Deputy Commander of the Border Guard acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Border Guard of Dong Thap province in recent years. At the same time, he requested the unit to continue to thoroughly implement the Conclusions, Resolutions, and instructions of the superiors; continue to carry out the TĐQT movement, making this movement a regular activity in the unit, creating motivation for the unit to complete its tasks well. Along with that, continue to promote studying and following the ideology, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh to be worthy of the title of Uncle Ho's Soldiers.

Through the Border Guard International Movement in the 2019-2024 period, many outstanding results have been achieved, with the emergence of many typical collectives and individuals with good, creative and effective ways of working, contributing to building an increasingly strong unit, meeting the requirements of the task of managing and protecting national border security and sovereignty.

The Provincial Border Guard Command awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 collectives and 16 individuals with achievements.
