Patriotic Emulation Congress: Towards resolving bottlenecks and bottlenecks for development

On the morning of September 19, Can Tho City People's Committee organized the 1st City Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025 - 2030).

The emulation and reward work of the city has many innovations, quality and efficiency have been improved. The emulation movements launched by the Prime Minister and the city have been actively responded to by all levels, sectors, cadres, party members and people, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building a clean and strong Party and political system.

The Head of the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee suggested that in the coming time, the city's emulation and commendation work needs to continue to thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's thought on patriotic emulation and Directive 41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024 of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership in emulation and commendation work in the new situation. Party committees, authorities and leaders must directly lead, direct and direct the emulation movement to resolve bottlenecks and bottlenecks, effectively implement key tasks, breakthroughs and development targets of the city in the period of 2025 - 2030.

The work of commendation must continue to be innovated, close to reality, based on the effectiveness and results of emulation movements and achievements; ensuring accuracy, timeliness, democracy, objectivity, right people, right work, educational and exemplary. Localities need to pay attention to commending the grassroots, collectives and individuals directly involved in work, labor and combat. Patriotic emulation movements must continue to change strongly, be the driving force contributing to promoting the city's socio -economic development quickly and sustainably.

Launching the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2025 - 2030, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau said that with the theme: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", the movement will be organized closely following political tasks with the participation of all levels, sectors and the entire people. All levels, sectors and localities will promote the discovery, training and replication of advanced models; promote emulation movements, good people and good deeds; improve the quality of rewards; reform administrative procedures, digital transformation, and apply information technology in state management of emulation and rewards.

The city continues to link the organization of patriotic emulation movements with regular and continuous campaigns, creating changes in cadres, party members and people; continues to promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle and the work of Party building and rectification; consolidates and improves the management and operation capacity of local authorities, promotes administrative reform, builds e-government and digital government.

The city organizes the practical and effective implementation of the Politburo's Resolutions in accordance with the local practical situation in the new period. The city resolutely and promptly removes bottlenecks and bottlenecks in infrastructure development; focuses on completing a synchronous and modern transportation system; speeds up the progress of expressways passing through the area, upgrades Can Tho International Airport, develops a system of seaports and dry ports associated with logistics services, affirming the role of a transit center of the Mekong Delta region. The city focuses on developing high-quality healthcare, improving the quality of education and training, ensuring social security, protecting the environment; encouraging the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in all fields. Can Tho focuses on training, fostering and attracting high-quality human resources, opening new training majors associated with the needs of socio-economic development and orienting the city to become a dynamic central urban area of ​​the region.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, implementing emulation movements, up to now, Can Tho has 55/72 communes meeting new rural standards, 13/55 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, 2/13 communes meeting model new rural standards. Many models and initiatives have been replicated, promoted, supported, and helped poor and near-poor households to escape poverty sustainably, thereby contributing to reducing the poverty rate to 0.63%...

In the past 5 years, over 1,030 collectives were awarded the City Emulation Flag, 6,827 collectives were awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective, 992 individuals were awarded the title of City Emulation Fighter, 12,921 collectives and 51,139 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the City People's Committee; over 100 collectives were awarded the Government's Emulation Flag, 3,148 cases were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister; the President awarded 1 Ho Chi Minh Medal, 1 Third Class Independence Medal and 256 Labor Medals of various classes.

The work of propaganda, commendation, and honoring and promoting advanced models has been regularly paid attention to by Party committees and organizations at all levels, with over 1,000 advanced models and good people and good deeds being introduced and promoted, creating motivation and encouragement for people of all walks of life to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements.

On this occasion, the Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee awarded Emulation Flags to 11 collectives, Certificates of Merit to 12 collectives and 45 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025.
