President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: “Vietnam and Laos, our two countries; our love is deeper than the Red River and the Mekong River”. President Kaysone Phomvihane also affirmed: “In the history of world revolution, there have been shining examples of proletarian internationalism, but nowhere and never before has there been such a special, long-lasting, comprehensive solidarity and fighting alliance”; “mountains may wear away, rivers may dry up, but the Laos-Vietnam friendship will forever be more steadfast than mountains and rivers”.
