Ensure security and order at bus stations

Currently, the security and order situation, traffic safety at the bus stations of Ba Lang (Cai Rang ward), O Mon (O Mon ward), Lo Te intersection (Thot Not ward) are gradually returning to order. The motorbike taxi drivers no longer solicit or compete for customers; not only that, they also join hands with the authorities to maintain order in the area.

Another positive sign that bus passengers responded to was that property theft no longer occurred. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, in O Mon Ward, Can Tho City, happily shared: “I often take the bus from my house to the City General Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Before, I saw bad guys mingling and jostling on the bus to pickpocket passengers. Now, the bus has a surveillance camera system, so they don’t dare to operate anymore.”

At the bus station, the security situation is always guaranteed. Mr. Dang Van Nam, in Thot Not ward, said: “Previously, at the Lo Te intersection bus station, there was often a situation of motorbike taxi drivers fighting for passengers. When the bus entered the station, as soon as passengers got off, they saw 3-4 motorbike taxi drivers running after them to solicit and compete, causing anxiety and discomfort for passengers... But now this situation has improved significantly. Like today, when I got off the bus, the motorbike taxi drivers did not fight but arranged the drivers in order. I really welcome the bus management unit for listening to people's feedback, promptly making adjustments, and restoring order and safety at the bus stations.”

At O Mon bus station, the number of people traveling by bus is quite large, but it is not chaotic. Mr. Le Duc Huy, a control officer at O Mon bus station, said: "Although there are many passengers, security and order are very stable. The motorbike taxis operate in an orderly manner, creating a comfortable feeling for passengers when traveling by this public means of transport."

The motorbike taxi drivers are also very active in their operations. Mr. Huynh Van Hao, a resident of O Mon Ward, informed: “Every day, at this bus station, there is only me and one other person working. We often help each other, there is no fighting over customers. Not only that, we always remind passengers to wear helmets and comply with regulations on traffic order and safety.”

Security and order at bus stations are ensured thanks to the efforts of propaganda and mobilization of local authorities and functional agencies. Traveling by bus in Can Tho City is now safe on all roads.
