BHG - With the ever-increasing demand for electricity, especially during peak periods such as the April 30th and May 1st holidays, ensuring a stable, safe, and efficient electricity supply is a key task for the power sector. Our province has a complex terrain and is frequently affected by harsh weather conditions, making the task of ensuring a reliable power supply for daily life, production, and political and cultural events during holidays even more crucial.

To proactively respond to all situations, Ha Giang Power Company has been implementing many comprehensive solutions, from technical to operational management. The focus is on ensuring a continuous power supply from the province's two main 220kV substations: Ha Giang and Bac Quang. The Ha Giang substation has a capacity of 2x125 MVA, while the Bac Quang substation has a capacity of 1x250 MVA. From these substations, a 110kV transmission line system has been established to transmit electricity to intermediate areas such as Song Lo, Nam Ma, Yen Minh, and Song Chung. However, with the mountainous terrain, extensive forest cover, and uneven population distribution, maintaining a stable power grid system is always a major challenge. Therefore, maintenance, repair, and upgrading of the system are always a top priority for Ha Giang Power Company, aiming to minimize the risk of power outages.

According to forecasts, electricity demand throughout the province will continue to increase sharply in 2025, especially during the hot season. To cope with this increase, the Power Company has developed a detailed electricity supply plan, aiming to meet all scenarios during peak periods, including the April 30th and May 1st holidays. According to Le Manh Hung, Deputy Director of Ha Giang Power Company: “One of the important solutions is load forecasting. The company is currently using NSMO software to forecast load on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, thereby helping the operating unit to be more proactive in coordinating resources and handling situations. If power rationing is necessary due to supply shortages or incidents, the company will notify customers early, update the situation, and send full reports to relevant authorities, strictly complying with the directives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Provincial People's Committee.” Beyond simply monitoring and forecasting, the power sector continuously updates the list of customers requiring increased capacity of 5MW or more to develop appropriate operational plans and ensure the system is not overloaded. Simultaneously, a series of contingency scenarios have been developed to cope with localized or widespread power outages, especially during extreme weather events such as storms, floods, and prolonged heatwaves.

Notably, in the 2025 electricity supply plan, the power sector has paid special attention to key electricity users such as hospitals, medical facilities, security and defense agencies, schools, administrative facilities, and locations hosting important political and social events in the province. In all situations, these units will be prioritized for the earliest possible restoration of electricity supply to ensure continuous and safe operation. Furthermore, to enhance the ability to respond quickly to incidents, the company has coordinated with relevant units to develop and approve plans for handling natural disasters and emergencies. These plans have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee and widely disseminated to departments, units, and the public to foster proactiveness and consensus during implementation.

With thorough preparation in terms of both human and material resources, combined with the application of modern technology and close coordination among relevant parties, the electricity sector in Ha Giang is gradually improving its ability to supply electricity flexibly, safely, and stably. Especially during the upcoming holidays, people and businesses can rest assured about the electricity supply for daily life, production, and recreational activities and festivals.
