Ensuring electricity savings targets are met by 2025.

Việt NamViệt Nam17/02/2025

The Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Thuan province has requested relevant departments, localities, agencies, units, and businesses to pay attention to and direct the implementation of several measures related to electricity saving in the province. This will contribute to ensuring the electricity saving target for 2025 as well as providing safe and continuous electricity supply, especially during the upcoming dry season months.

Specifically, agencies and offices should focus on developing and implementing electricity saving plans for their units, ensuring a minimum annual saving of 5% of total electricity consumption. Simultaneously, they should develop and effectively implement regulations on electricity saving and rules on the use, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment within their agencies and units. Regarding electricity saving in public lighting, advertising lighting, and outdoor decorative lighting, management solutions, standards, and technical specifications for public lighting should be applied, aiming for a minimum saving of 30% of total electricity consumption during the 2023-2025 period for lighting activities. Restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, office complexes, and apartment buildings should switch off or reduce outdoor advertising and decorative lighting by at least 50% during peak evening hours when requested by the local power company.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also encourages the implementation of programs where businesses voluntarily agree to implement energy saving solutions, electricity saving measures, and the installation of rooftop solar power systems as regulated. Simultaneously, it encourages businesses to develop programs to mobilize backup power generation systems in case of power shortages and to install and integrate renewable energy sources (solar energy, wind energy) into their internal energy systems as regulated… For energy-consuming facilities with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh/year or more, they must save at least 2% of electricity consumption per unit of product each year, or at least 2% of total electricity consumption for the year.

At the household level, in addition to paying attention to using energy-labeled electrical appliances, it is also necessary to regularly practice energy-saving and efficient electricity usage. For commercial and service establishments, it is advisable to limit the use of high-power, energy-consuming equipment during peak hours and encourage the use of on-site energy sources such as renewable energy sources as regulated, and renewable energy-powered electrical equipment. Meanwhile, households using electricity for lighting dragon fruit plants are encouraged to use energy-saving compact fluorescent lamps and LED lights, and are only permitted to use lights from after 10 PM to 5 AM.

Regarding this matter, the Provincial People's Committee previously issued a plan to implement the Prime Minister 's Directive on strengthening electricity saving in the period 2023-2025 and subsequent years in Binh Thuan province. Accordingly, the plan aims to achieve a minimum annual electricity saving of 2% of total electricity consumption in the province during the period 2023-2025 and subsequent years. It is understood that relevant agencies will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to approve the electricity supply plan for 2025 in Binh Thuan province and implement electricity reduction and saving measures, with an estimated electricity saving and reduction of approximately 60 million kWh.
