Ensure accuracy in reviewing and zoning forest types in detail

(DN) - On the afternoon of July 10, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang chaired a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related departments, branches and units on the results of the review and detailed zoning of special-use forests, protection forests, production forests and the development of a forestry planning map for the province until 2030.

According to the consultant's report, the current planning status in 2020, the total forest area including special-use forests, protection forests and production forests in the province is more than 180.4 thousand hectares. The review results show that the total forest area of ​​the province is nearly 166.2 thousand hectares. According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, according to the provincial forestry planning until 2030, the total forest land area in the province decreased by nearly 14.3 thousand hectares. Of which, forested land decreased by nearly 8.2 thousand hectares, non-forested land decreased by more than 6.1 thousand hectares.

At the meeting, the consulting unit proposed that the Provincial People's Committee promptly approve the results of the review and adjustment of the planning of 3 types of forests in the province to have a basis for implementing the next steps; fully update the results of the review and adjustment into the digital database on national forest resources and forest land; and at the same time integrate these results into the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030. Promote the application of high technology in forestry management of the province; prioritize resources for forest protection and development, especially upstream forests and special-use forests...

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue reviewing the opinions of the units mentioned at the meeting, especially on detailed zoning data of forest types, to ensure accurate data. After reviewing, it is necessary to continue completing the dossier to submit to the province.

Regarding the development of the provincial forestry planning map to 2030, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is requested to continue reviewing and consulting with departments and branches to make forestry planning consistent with the general planning of the province. The Department of Agriculture and Environment continues to review and divide forest types in detail and develop an updated provincial forestry planning map of Binh Phuoc province (old).
