On May 22, the Croatian star confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid after the 2024/25 season ends. Modric also sent his deep thanks to President Florentino Perez, his teammates, coaches and all those who accompanied him throughout his years at Madrid.

Modric's farewell letter to Real quickly went viral on social media. Many teammates sent their gratitude to the 39-year-old midfielder on their personal pages.

Midfielder Federico Valverde wrote: "Thanks to him (Modric), I learned perseverance. Knowing how to wait for the right moment, being humble in everything, and how a person can become great on the pitch. I am grateful to have played alongside him for the past 7 years."

Former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo also spoke up: "Thank you for everything, Luka! It was an honor to share great moments at the club. Wishing you success in the next stage."

Kylian Mbappe shared: "I was lucky to play and share the dressing room with him this season. I got to know a great player more closely. Before becoming one of the best players in history, he was a great person. Modric wrote history for the best club in the world for more than a decade and won every title. Thank you legend."

Modric has been with Real Madrid for 13 years.

Former midfielder Toni Kroos briefly commented: "Nothing but love for you, my friend." Accompanying the status is a photo of Modric and Kroos lifting the Champions League trophy together.

Antonio Rudiger also paid tribute to Modric: "Thank you, brother. It was a great honor to play alongside you. A man with a brilliant career and a great personality. One of the best midfielders that world football has ever had."
