The founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930 was a crucial historical turning point for the Vietnamese revolution. The experience of the past 90 years has proven that the Party's correct leadership is the primary factor determining all the victories of our country's revolution.
Throughout the development of the Vietnamese revolution, the Party has continuously overcome all difficulties and challenges; making pivotal decisions that are appropriate to reality and meet historical requirements.
The Party led the entire nation in the struggle to seize power, the struggle for national liberation and reunification, carrying out the socialist revolution throughout the country, and successfully implementing the national renewal process.
He led the successful August Revolution of 1945 and protected the fledgling people's democratic government.
At the age of 15, with 5,000 members, in just 15 days at the end of August 1945, the Party led the entire nation to carry out the great August Revolution of 1945, overthrowing French colonialism, Japanese fascism, and feudal rule, establishing the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia.

On September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, solemnly read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming to the nation and the world : The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam). From this point, Vietnam entered a new era: the era of independence, freedom, and socialism. This is one of the greatest events in the history of the Vietnamese revolution.
President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "Not only can the working class and people of Vietnam be proud, but the working class and oppressed peoples elsewhere can also be proud that: This is the first time in the revolutionary history of colonial peoples that a Party only 15 years old has successfully led a revolution and seized power throughout the country."

And in a critical situation, with the overwhelming difficulties of a fledgling government, the Party and President Ho Chi Minh steered the ship steadily, seizing opportunities to maintain peace, conserve the people's strength, and prepare forces for a long and arduous struggle.
The leaders of the two protracted resistance wars achieved great victories.
During the nine-year protracted resistance war against the French colonial invaders, the Party and President Ho Chi Minh led the entire nation and army from one victory to another.
The Dien Bien Phu victory, "renowned throughout the world and shaking the earth," is the most convincing proof of the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, of the invincible strength of the people, and of the great national unity that the Party awakened and organized.

The victory at Dien Bien Phu was also the final decisive blow, sealing the fate of old colonialism, a breakthrough that opened up opportunities and inspired oppressed nations around the world to rise up and fight for liberation and self-salvation.
But it seems that the history of humanity in the latter half of the 20th century chose the Vietnamese people as a testing ground for human conscience, a pioneering fighter in the struggle against evil and imperialist tyranny. The arduous sacrifices of nine years of protracted resistance only brought peace to half the country; the southern half remained under the yoke of American imperialism. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, our people entered a new era, simultaneously carrying out two strategic tasks: building socialism in the North and fighting for the liberation of the South.
Implementing the Politburo's strategic directive: "Rapid, bold, unexpected, and certain victory," our five powerful main army units launched a general offensive on Saigon, along with the coordinated combat of local armed forces and the strong uprising of the people. We crushed the enemy's resistance, forcing the Saigon government's cabinet to declare unconditional surrender.

At exactly 11:30 AM on April 30, 1975, the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam flew atop the Independence Palace, marking the victorious conclusion of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. The beloved President Ho Chi Minh's dying wish, "We must be determined to fight the American invaders until complete victory," was fully realized by our army and people.
The historic victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in the Spring of 1975 wrote one of the most glorious and brilliant chapters in the nation's history, driving the invading forces completely out of the country.
This is a victory of courage, sacrifice, intelligence, patriotism, and national unity, which the Party and President Ho Chi Minh inspired, organized, and trained into an invincible force. It is also a victory of the times, of the solidarity and assistance of brotherly nations, and of peace-loving forces worldwide.
It can be affirmed that "in the long struggle for national independence and freedom, the Party was present everywhere and at all times. The Party led the way in the fight. The Party bravely faced difficulties. The Party remained closely connected to the people through what it did for the cause of national liberation."
Immense achievements in building and defending the Fatherland, and building a socialist rule of law state.
After the country was reunified, amidst countless difficulties, the Party led the people in both restoring the economy and conducting two wars against invaders at both ends of the border, protecting national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Under the leadership of the Party, the people of the whole country simultaneously promoted the construction of material infrastructure, explored and resolved difficulties, overcame stagnation and socio-economic crises, and gradually formulated the path of reform.
In 1986, the Party formulated the reform policy, marking a crucial turning point in the cause of building socialism in Vietnam.
Over nearly 40 years of implementing the Party's reform policies, our country has achieved tremendous and historically significant accomplishments in all areas of life. Vietnam has escaped underdevelopment and become a middle-income developing country. Per capita income reached over US$4,000 in 2022.

In particular, in 2022, national GDP growth reached 8.02%, the highest in the 2011-2022 period. In 2023, Vietnam continued to be a bright spot in the global economy, basically achieving the overall targets set in various fields; and was recognized by many prestigious international organizations. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for the whole year reached 5.05%. Vietnam is currently one of the world's leading rice exporters. The value of Vietnam's national brand reached US$431 billion, rising one rank to 32nd out of 100 strongest national brands in the world. The Vietnamese economy is strongly integrated with the region and the world.
To date, Vietnam has established official diplomatic relations with all 35 countries in the Americas and 193 countries and territories, including 6 Comprehensive Strategic Partners, 12 Strategic Partners, and 12 Comprehensive Partners.

The National Assembly maintains relations with the parliaments and legislatures of more than 140 countries. The Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and people's organizations have also implemented practical foreign relations with 1,200 people's organizations and foreign partners.
Currently, Vietnam has trade relations with over 200 countries and territories, and has signed bilateral trade agreements with more than 100 countries, including many new-generation agreements. Foreign relations are expanding and deepening; Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena are being enhanced.

On the multilateral front, with its new position and strength, Vietnam is an active and responsible member of more than 70 important international organizations and forums such as the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, ASEM, WTO, etc.
Vietnam has also successfully organized many major international conferences and fulfilled many important international responsibilities as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the rotating Chair of ASEAN, the host of the ASEM Summit, the APEC Summit, the World Economic Forum on ASEAN, etc.
Vietnam has sent hundreds of officers and soldiers to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions, showcasing the image of a friendly, peace-loving, and humane country, ready to join hands in resolving the issues facing the international community.

In recent years, the Party has continued to renew and reinvent itself to better fulfill the requirements and tasks of the new revolutionary period. The Party has focused on Party building, considering it a key task. As a result, the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations have been gradually enhanced. The spirit of self-criticism and criticism among cadres and Party members has improved; the prevention and fight against corruption and negative phenomena have been carried out resolutely, relentlessly, without exception or forbidden areas; the struggle against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, the handling of negative phenomena and violations, the practice of thrift, and the fight against "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party have shown clear progress.
It can be affirmed that the success of the "Renovation" process once again demonstrates the latent cultural strength of the nation, and the talent and intellect of the Vietnamese people. Furthermore, it is a powerful testament to the correctness of the socialist revolutionary path chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, and proof of the wise leadership role and capacity of the Communist Party of Vietnam in building the country, defending the Fatherland, and developing the economy.
