Many candidates taking the SAT exam in Hanoi were confused and said that many exam rooms were "locked out" 5-10 minutes early due to system app errors. Some candidates even said that their exam papers were automatically submitted 22 minutes before the end time.

Not only that, some of you also rated the exam as difficult, with many new and long questions that took a lot of time to write. Meanwhile, some of you said that there were many repeated questions.

Speaking to Dan Viet Newspaper, a representative of the IIGEducation Organization confirmed the incident this morning. "This is a global system error of the College Board. This morning, there were many exam locations. At IIG, there were 2 exam locations that had problems: Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Banking Academy. Candidates who took the exam before 11am were not affected, but candidates who took the exam after 11am encountered the above situation."

IIG representative also informed: "Currently, College Board is reporting the incident as well as finding solutions for candidates having problems."

The College Board is the testing agency that administers and administers international standardized tests such as AP, SAT and PSAT globally.

In recent years, many candidates have been interested in the SAT exam. This is a standardized test of ability widely used for university admission in the US education system. In addition, SAT scores are also accepted by many universities around the world such as in: Canada, Australia, UK, Korea, Singapore...

The SAT is administered several times a year. The skills tested on the SAT include Reading, Language, and Math. Reading consists of 52 questions over 65 minutes; Language consists of 44 questions over 35 minutes; Math consists of 58 questions over 80 minutes (calculator-free math consists of 20 questions over 25 minutes, calculator-allowed math consists of 38 questions over 55 minutes).

According to the latest announcement from the College Board, the SAT exam fee in the US is 68 USD. International candidates will have to pay an additional fee of 43 USD. Thus, in Vietnam, the SAT exam fee this year is 111 USD, equivalent to 2.8 million VND. In addition, candidates will have to pay additional fees when they have special needs such as: Cancellation fee, rescheduling fee of 29 USD (733,000 VND); urgent result notification fee in case candidates need early scores of 31 USD (783,000 VND).

In 2024, a system crash also occurred during the thinking assessment exam of the University of Technology, forcing nearly 7,000 candidates to retake the exam.

Many candidates at the exam sites of Thuy Loi University, National Economics University, Industry University or Nghe An… reported that about 40 minutes before the exam, the exam system showed signs of instability, many students had blank screens. The exam steering committee decided to stop the entire exam team.

The cause of the error was determined to be that the server resources of the exam platform system were overloaded due to a number of new functions being put into use to synthesize data to help invigilators screen and detect risks of exam cheating. This function had an error and occupied the system's resources, thereby creating a chain effect that caused the exam system to hang.
