This afternoon (October 24), the National Assembly approved the list of 44 individuals holding positions elected or approved by the National Assembly who will be subject to a vote of confidence.
According to Article 7 of Resolution 96 of the National Assembly on confidence votes, the person being voted on must report fully and truthfully on the results of performing assigned tasks and powers, political qualities, ethics, lifestyle, declaration of assets and income, limitations, shortcomings, directions for improvement, and provide full explanations on issues raised by voters and the public or requested by National Assembly representatives and People's Council representatives.
The positions elected and approved by the National Assembly, as stipulated in Resolution 96, include: President, Vice President; Speaker of the National Assembly, Vice Speakers of the National Assembly, Members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Ethnic Council , Chairmen of National Assembly Committees, Secretary General of the National Assembly; Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other members of the Government; Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy, and Auditor General.
However, those who have announced their resignation pending retirement or who were elected or appointed during the year of the confidence vote are not subject to the vote. Therefore, the National Assembly will not hold a confidence vote for President Vo Van Thuong, Deputy Prime Ministers Tran Hong Ha and Tran Luu Quang, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh, and Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee Le Quang Manh, as they were elected or approved for appointment in 2023.
Of the 44 individuals subject to the National Assembly's confidence vote this time, the Presidential bloc has 1 person, the National Assembly bloc has 18 people, the Government bloc has 23 people, along with the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
Two individuals (Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue and Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh) underwent a fourth vote of confidence, 12 individuals underwent a second vote of confidence, and the remaining 30 individuals underwent a first vote of confidence.
