Bat Cave scenic spot receives city-level relic ranking certificate

Bat Cave scenic spot (Tien An commune, old Tien Phuoc district), now in Thanh Binh commune (Da Nang city) was ranked as a provincial-level relic by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (before the merger), marking an important milestone in the protection of this relic.

Bat Cave is highly appreciated by geologists for its natural, cultural and historical values, and is likened to a Jurassic Park with fossil formations.

Bat Cave was formed hundreds of millions of years ago, one of the oldest rock formations in the Quang Nam - Da Nang region. The rocks of the Kham Duc and Nui Vu formations are metamorphic rocks exposed on a large scale in the Bat Cave scenic spot, clearly shown through color, foliation, micro-folding, etc. This is a rare exposure in the tropics because the entire bedrock is exposed, while in most other places ( Yen Bai , Nghe An and the Central Highlands), the bedrock is heavily weathered.

The exposed bedrock of Bat Cave is like a natural museum of geological activity, contributing to clarifying the history of an important geological development stage of the earth.

During the resistance war against France and the US, Bat Cave was the base of revolutionary organizations in Zone V, the Provincial Party Committee and the old Tien Phuoc district. This was the location chosen by the QB 150 engineering workshop of Zone V as the base for the production of weapons and ammunition. Thanks to the abundant source of bat droppings in the caves, the workers of the engineering workshop exploited and produced gunpowder, ensuring the supply of ammunition for the entire battlefield of Zone V.

During the period of resistance against the US to save the country, Unit C45 of Tien Phuoc District Military Command chose Hang Doi as a base, both to consolidate and build forces and to coordinate with local militia to increase patrols and control the area. The dangerous location of Hang Doi was a safe shelter for the activities of revolutionary organizations, contributing to the final victory of our people's resistance war against foreign invaders.

At Bat Cave, there are signs and warning signs about protecting the natural environment; promoting the protection of natural landscapes and avoiding impacts on the natural environment.

Bat Cave has been planned as a destination and is one of the prominent locations with potential for local eco-tourism development. The road to Bat Cave has been expanded, which is very convenient for tourism and service development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi requested Thanh Binh commune to coordinate with the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to effectively manage and protect the relic.

The commune needs to soon organize the planting of markers, establish land records; propagate people to join in protecting the relic. Soon study and build a tourism - learning - experience route connecting Bat Cave with neighboring scenic spots and relics; encourage socialization, mobilize legal resources for the restoration, embellishment and promotion of the relic.
