As is customary, during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), Pho Chau Market (Huong Son - Ha Tinh ) opens at night to serve the shopping needs of the people.
From the night of the 25th to the night of the 29th of the 12th lunar month, Pho Chau Market opens at night instead of just during the day as usual. The market stays open until 11 PM to serve the maximum shopping and market-going needs of people during the Tet holiday. During the night market, to ensure safety, the Pho Chau Market Management Board actively disseminated information, inspected, and supervised fire prevention and control measures, ensuring security and order in the market area.
At the night market, many street food items were sold by vendors to cater to the needs of the people, especially students. Ms. Le Thi Thuy, a vendor at Pho Chau market, shared: " Normally, I only sell soft drinks, but on nights when the market is open, I also sell snacks. The night market attracts a large number of young people, so I sell quite well, which helps me earn extra income for Tet."
For many young people, strolling through the night market is not just about shopping; it's also an opportunity to reunite after a period of studying or working far from home. They enjoy their favorite snacks together, chat, and share stories from the past year.
Many young people also took the opportunity to check in and capture photos of themselves strolling through the night market during Tet.
At the market, several game stalls were also set up, attracting many young people who wanted to challenge their abilities and luck.
During this time, many young people also take advantage of the opportunity to sell some Tet (Lunar New Year) items such as red envelopes, Tet decorations, etc., hoping to both enjoy the lively atmosphere of the market and earn extra income. Nguyen My Linh (wearing a white shirt, from Pho Chau town) - a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education - shared: "This is the second year I've sold red envelopes at Pho Chau night market. Although the profit isn't much, I'm still very happy because I can enjoy the bustling atmosphere of my hometown market."
On this occasion, many children were also brought to the night market by their parents, joining in the lively and bustling atmosphere of this special market.
At the night market, vendors selling shoes, clothes, household goods, and other items are also taking advantage of the opportunity to open their stalls to welcome customers shopping for Tet (Lunar New Year).
According to many locals, busy daytime jobs lead them to visit the market at night to do their Tet shopping and immerse themselves in the joyful and bustling atmosphere of the Tet markets.
This is reportedly the sixth year that the Pho Chau night market has been organized. The market has received widespread support and participation from traders and local residents. Along with other spring festival activities, the Pho Chau night market has become an indispensable destination during Tet (Lunar New Year) in Huong Son district, becoming a unique feature of this border region.
