The Royal Thai Irrigation Department announced on September 26 that due to heavy rains and continued northern inflows, they will gradually increase the water discharge rate of the Chao Phraya Dam (Chai Nat province) from the current level of 1,498 cubic meters per second, but not exceeding 2,000 cubic meters per second, Bangkok Post reported on September 27.
The affected areas are residential areas located outside the flood barriers along the Chao Phraya River in the provinces and cities of: Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Suphanburi, Lopburi, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Bangkok.

The flood release is expected to raise water levels in the Phong Pheng Canal (Ang Thong province), Bang Ban Canal, and Noi River (Ayutthaya province) by 1 to 1.5 meters. The rising water could also cause canals and tributaries to overflow.
The Thai Department of Irrigation reported that as of 7:00 AM on September 26th, the water level at station C2 (Muang district, Nakhon Sawan province) had risen by 21 cm compared to the previous day, but was still 3.29 m below the bank. The flow rate at this station was 1,846 m³ /second.
At station C3, also known as the Chao Phraya Dam, the water level rose slightly compared to September 25th but remained 3.52 meters below the shore. The flow rate at this station was 1,498 cubic meters per second.
Nation TV reported on September 26th that flooding caused by the overflowing Ping River in Mueang County, Chiang Mai Province, was even worse than in 2011.
Heavy rains on the Ping River caused flooding in residential and commercial areas of Mueang County on the night of September 25, including the San Pa Khoi market, Charoen Prathet neighborhoods, and the Night Bazaar. At least 2,000 households are expected to be affected by the flooding, particularly those in and around the Night Bazaar, where water levels exceeded 1 meter.
