Digital transformation imprint of banking industry

Digital transformation has changed the way people and businesses interact and use financial services.

Realizing this trend, the banking industry has quickly applied digital transformation (DCT) to optimize transaction processes, improve customer experience and better serve customers.

With the goal of creating a "boost" in service provision activities, meeting the increasing needs of people and businesses, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Region 11 branch has directed credit institutions (CIs) in the province to strongly deploy the application of information technology, digital transformation and regularly coordinate with relevant agencies to implement measures to ensure security, safety and confidentiality of customer data.

A clear mark of banking digital transformation in the province is non-cash payment (TTKDTM). With the support of the banking industry, the implementation of TTKDTM solutions for service groups such as: payment of fees, administrative procedure fees (TTHC), tax payment, social insurance is being promoted. Currently, with digital banking applications, people can deposit savings online; borrow money online; pay phone bills, water bills, electricity bills; pay taxes; pay insurance premiums... anytime, anywhere. By the end of 2024, the whole province has more than 2.7 million active accounts at banks.

To reach customers through digital channels, Dak Lak banking industry focuses on investing in technology systems, operating platforms, developing digital transformation infrastructure, and promoting e-commerce. Banking products and services provided to customers are therefore increasingly digitized, thereby providing many safe and convenient products and services to enhance user experience.

For example, the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) has built 3 digital platforms to serve customers, including the MBBank App (for individual customers), BIZ MBBank (for corporate customers) and Banking-as-a-Service (BAAS) - providing MB products and services on partner platforms. Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan, Director of MB Dak Lak, said that there are currently 572,000 customers opening accounts at MB. To promote digital transformation, serve transaction and commercial activities in the electronic environment, the unit regularly organizes account opening campaigns - installing apps for customers at places with high population density, giving VQR accounts to stores and small businesses with many outstanding utilities such as sharing balance fluctuations, payment announcements; simplifying loan procedures, easy online disbursement on the MBBank App platform, BIZ MBBank...

Along with that, the banking sector of Dak Lak province also focuses on implementing Project 06 to develop applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030; promoting integration and interconnection with the National Public Service Portal.

Support people to conduct financial transactions in the electronic environment.

In the task of implementing Project 06 of the banking sector, the focus on cleaning customer data information, applying chip-embedded citizen identification cards, VNeID accounts in verifying and identifying customer information has also been promoted by banks. Up to now, more than 103 million customer records have been biometrically verified via chip-embedded citizen identification cards or VNeID applications. The entire system has 29 credit institutions signed with the police agency to implement cleaning of customer data opening payment accounts; 13 credit institutions have tested the flow of linking social security accounts (ASXH) with bank accounts for ASXH payment, of which more than 335,000 ASXH accounts have been linked; 1 credit institution has tested the flow of ASXH payment payment.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Cuong, Acting Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 11 Branch, in the coming time, the unit will continue to direct bank branches to invest in synchronous technical infrastructure, diversify and increase digital utilities, including the extensive development of e-payment services such as: diversifying and flexibly providing e-payment services in online public service payments, paying subsidies, social security, paying hospital fees, tuition fees, insurance, paying electricity and water bills; exempting and reducing payment fees to promote and expand e-payment. In addition, promoting communication and popularizing digital skills for people in accessing and using financial and banking services in the electronic environment, contributing to realizing the goals of digital transformation, towards digital government, digital society, digital economy.

Up to now, Dak Lak province is implementing 126 administrative procedures in the unit's field of operation announced on the National Public Service Portal. In 2024, the provincial branch of the State Bank of Vietnam will receive and directly process 39 dossiers to resolve administrative procedures in the unit's field of operation, 100% of administrative procedures with fees will be paid online on the public service portal.
