This is a newly constructed road built right along the coast, unlike other existing coastal roads in the province, so there is no "territorial encroachment" on the coastline...

6.75 km marks the beginning of the promising prospects.

To date, more than 7 months after the Standing Committee of the 14th Provincial Party Committee concluded its meeting with the Standing Committee of the La Gi Town Party Committee on the results of tasks in 2022 and the direction of tasks in 2023 (Conclusion 698), which included a unified directive on the construction of the coastal road through La Gi town, relevant departments and units have provided feedback and assessed the Report proposing the investment policy for the La Gi Coastal Road project. The project is currently being submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of the investment policy, in order to be presented to the Provincial People's Council at the end-of-year session. The purpose is to facilitate the commencement of construction for the project in 2024, as the Investment Policy Proposal Report emphasizes a three-year implementation period, transitioning from 2024-2025 to 2026-2030. Therefore, the proposed funding sources for appraisal are the provincial budget within the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 transitioning to 2026-2030 and central government support.

According to the project's investment proposal report, the total length of the planned road is approximately 6.75 km. This includes a 5.4 km coastal road, starting at the intersection with Cach Mang Thang 8 Street and ending at the intersection with Tran Khanh Du Street; the remaining 1.35 km consists of access roads to the coastal road, including approximately 0.9 km from Cach Mang Thang 8 Street (from Nguyen Tri Phuong Street to the coastal road) and approximately 0.45 km from Tran Khanh Du Street (from Hung Vuong Street to the coastal road).

The project, when implemented, is considered the starting point of the coastal road in La Gi town. According to the town's general plan until 2035, approved by the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province in 2019, the road will be approximately 18 km long, starting at the border with Ham Tan district and ending at the intersection with DT.719 road at Km48+300. The road will be 26 m wide, including: a 15 m wide road surface, an 8 m wide sidewalk on the hillside, and a 3 m wide sidewalk on the seaside; the seaside area is planned to have a green park strip and a coastal protection embankment. This is a newly constructed road close to the coast, unlike other existing coastal roads in the province, with a total investment of 448,208 million VND.

There are no "feudal lords" along the coast.

In Conclusion 698, the Provincial Party Standing Committee also directed that the coastal road planning must have a long-term vision, ensure interconnectedness, and take into account the future development of La Gi town, especially tourism development. Accordingly, it is necessary to calculate and plan to increase the width of the road surface and sidewalks, and increase the setback distance from the average high tide line towards the land (approximately 100m) to create sufficient space for accessing the beach. No new investment projects should be planned or approved on the coastal side (except for projects and works serving the community); at the same time, discussions should be held with investors of projects that have already received investment approval, have approved 1/500 scale planning, and have construction permits but have not yet commenced construction, in order to implement this content, aiming to enhance access to the beach for residents and tourists; and create "room" for tourism development in the inland area.

This also means there will be no "territorial control" of the coastline, as seen on some other coastal roads in the province, where resorts right next to the sea effectively demarcate areas of the coastline and sea surface to serve their own guests. In reality, this has created inequality in enjoying the gifts of nature, especially for local communities and tourists who do not stay at the coastal resorts.

La Gi town, as a tourism and service urban area, holds a crucial position and role in the socio -economic development of the province, while also having a ripple effect on other localities, creating momentum for economic growth in the southern region of the province. Therefore, the construction of this coastal road, with a focus on community and social welfare, will yield double benefits. Once completed, this coastal road will contribute to creating a distinctive landscape for the coastal town of La Gi, developing the local trade, service, and tourism sectors. Furthermore, by connecting transportation within the region, it will create momentum for the development of tourist areas and coastal urban areas, promoting socio-economic development, and simultaneously serving rescue operations, ensuring security and national defense, and combating climate change in the town and surrounding areas.

Mr. Pham Trong Nhan, Chairman of the People's Committee of La Gi town, said that investing in the construction of the coastal road in La Gi town is necessary. This is because it not only gradually improves external transportation but also addresses obstacles and limitations in the development of tourism and services in the town over the past time, contributing to the development of the coastal urban area. If investment procedures are expedited and resources are proactively mobilized, including partial budget support from the province as directed by the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the first 6.75 km of the 18 km coastal road through La Gi town will be completed within 3 years.
