Pain from gout, natural treatment methods.

Gout is caused by the accumulation of urate crystals that form when a person has too much uric acid in their blood. It is also a common form of arthritis that causes sudden, severe pain, swelling, and redness in the joints, especially the big toe.

Although gout is not a major medical concern, if left untreated, it can lead to joint damage or kidney stones. When experiencing severe pain, doctors will prescribe medication to lower uric acid levels immediately; however, there are also many natural remedies to relieve pain at home, ranging from dietary changes to lifestyle modifications.

Natural remedies for treating gout

Certain foods can help excrete uric acid, reducing pain caused by gout.

1. Cherries

Cherry juice is a popular folk remedy for gout. According to one study, drinking 200ml of pure cherry juice daily for four weeks can significantly reduce uric acid levels in the blood. Cherries also contain many anthocyanins, which have natural anti-inflammatory effects and reduce swelling associated with gout.

2. Apples

An apple a day can help lower uric acid levels and prevent gout attacks. Apples are high in fiber, which helps absorb uric acid from the blood so the body can eliminate it.

3. Dandelion

Dandelion helps prevent gout attacks. It can be used in the form of tea or dandelion extract to support kidney function, helping the body eliminate excess uric acid. One study showed that dandelion may reduce uric acid levels.

4. Celery

Celery is often considered a folk remedy for urinary tract infections. Celery seed extract treats gout due to its luteolin content, a substance that can help lower uric acid levels. Celery also contains many antioxidants that help reduce inflammation.

5. Ginger

Ginger aids digestion, prevents nausea, and has anti-inflammatory properties, including for gout. Apply ginger powder to the affected area.

6. Bananas

Bananas are high in potassium, a mineral that the body needs, especially the kidneys. They also contain a high amount of fiber, which can help remove uric acid from the body. Eating just one banana a day is sufficient.

Lifestyle changes can help treat gout.

Get enough sleep, at least seven hours each night. Limit coffee and alcohol, and practice yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and psychotherapy to help you sleep better. Drinking enough water is a simple way to help your kidneys flush out excess uric acid from your body.

Magnesium supplementation is a dietary mineral that offers many benefits, such as reducing inflammation and lowering uric acid levels. Magnesium is abundant in many foods.
