Diaz's absence from the Hong Kong friendly is a clear sign that Liverpool are seriously considering letting him go. The Times reports that negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern Munich are reaching a turning point.
Coach Vincent Kompany and the Bayern Munich board are determined to recruit the Colombian winger. Bild said Bayern Munich identified Diaz as the top target for the left winger position, after failing to pursue other targets such as Nico Williams or Xavi Simons.
In mid-month, Bayern had offered 67.5 million euros (about 58.6 million pounds) to recruit Liverpool winger but was immediately rejected. However, with the successful recruitment of Hugo Ekitike, "The Kop" is ready to listen to further offers from the German club.
For his part, Diaz has informed Liverpool's board that he wants to leave this summer. Diaz's contract with Liverpool runs until 2027, but the player has shown no signs of extending it.
The Colombian star is unhappy with his current salary (estimated at £55,000/week, much lower than Darwin Núñez or Mohamed Salah). Bayern are said to have reached a personal agreement with Diaz, offering a contract until 2029 with an option to extend until 2030 and a significant salary increase for the player.
