According to the Urban Infrastructure Department, Department of Construction, the investment and implementation of urban development projects in Hue City have complied with regulations on urban development investment management, ensuring strict compliance with approved urban planning. The goal of turning Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-run city has become a reality. This is an important historical milestone, not only for the development of the city but also for the preservation and promotion of the unique cultural and heritage values of Hue.

Mr. Truong Nguyen Thien Nhan - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction said that the system of key projects has been gradually taking shape in the city, creating a framework for urban development, population dispersion, land fund development, especially creating a premise and strong driving force for the formation of a chain of coastal urban areas in the future, contributing to promoting the development of the marine economy.
In the coming time, the city will continue to prioritize investment resources in routes connecting the central urban area with satellite cities to create momentum and spread socio-economic development such as: Phu My - Thuan An route, Cho Mai - Tan My route, the western road of Tam Giang lagoon - Cau Hai, coastal road and bridge across Thuan An estuary, road at both ends of Nguyen Hoang bridge, To Huu road extended to Phu Bai airport, Ring Road 3...
In order to achieve the goal of building Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-governed city according to Resolution No. 54 of the Politburo, the city has prioritized accelerating the progress of economic and technical infrastructure development projects, especially inter-regional transport infrastructure. Thanks to that, the transport infrastructure system has undergone fundamental changes in recent times, well meeting the travel and trade needs of people and businesses.
Accordingly, in terms of air transport, Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport will be completed and put into operation in 2023 with a capacity of 5 million passengers/year, meeting the demand for air passenger transport. In terms of roads, the road system has been invested in synchronous construction, evenly distributed including vertical and horizontal axes, highways, and belt roads connecting to localities in the city and neighboring provinces such as: Ho Chi Minh Road, the western branch, has been invested in, plus the asphalt upgrade of National Highway 49B from Hue City (old) to A Luoi, contributing positively to economic development, ensuring security and defense for the western area of the city. The coastal and lagoon road system has also received investment attention, such as National Highway 49B from My Chanh - Quang Tri to Phu Loc, 95km long. The coastal road and bridge across Thuan An estuary, the highlight of the future coastal city, is also an important project to gradually form a 127km coastal road through the city...

In addition, the Nguyen Hoang Road and Huong River Overpass Project was technically opened to traffic in March 2025. When the entire project is completed, it will make an important contribution to expanding urban space, exploiting large land funds in Huong Long and Huong Ho areas, creating a large source of revenue for the city. In addition, the North-South expressway system, La Son - Tuy Loan section, about 66 km long, Cam Lo - La Son, about 98 km long, phase 1, has been completed and put into operation, opening more doors for the city's external traffic to develop. Currently, the city is coordinating with relevant agencies and units to implement the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway project and Cam Lo - La Son expressway phase 2 with a scale of 4 lanes.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan said that Hue has a coastline of more than 120km along the coast from North to South of our country, has planned port areas that are very convenient for transporting goods between provinces and cities in the region, with the two ends of the country and international trade, serving well for the security and defense strategy. In particular, Chan May natural deep-water port has put into use 3 berths No. 1, 2, 3 with a capacity of 4.5 to 9 million tons/year with cargo ships of 50 - 70 thousand tons and larger, passenger ships of up to 3,500 passengers, opening up great opportunities for the development of the logistics transport service industry to serve the transport of goods for the city and neighboring provinces, including neighboring countries in the East - West economic corridor to the world.
According to the Department of Construction, in the coming time, Hue City will continue to promote investment in socio-economic development projects according to the approved planning orientation. In particular, priority will be given to infrastructure projects in industrial parks, economic zones, and high-tech zones; key projects such as Laguna Lang Co Phase 2 (with Casino); Minh Vien International Resort; investment in the construction of Wharfs 4, 5, 6 and other planned ports at Chan May deep-water port; Chan May logistics service area; urban areas and coastal tourism in the area to promote marine economic development. |
