The Dong Nai River section through Bien Hoa city is quite long and is identified as the main landscape axis of this urban area.
Multi-purpose projects
Bien Hoa City is aiming to develop towards forming a sustainable urban area based on a harmonious combination of economic development, improving the quality of life, protecting the ecological environment and adapting to climate change. In the strategy of developing Bien Hoa into a livable urban area, an ecological urban area, a mixed urban area, modern development with identity and sustainable development, the Dong Nai River plays a very important role.
The Dong Nai River section flowing through Bien Hoa City creates an important waterway running through Bien Hoa City. Urban development is structured by green space and water surface, with concentrated urban space interwoven with green landscape corridors and water surface. With a large river surface, Bien Hoa has an extremely valuable advantage to develop into a riverside city.
Currently, in addition to 4 projects to build embankments to reinforce the Dong Nai riverbank invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, Bien Hoa City People's Committee is investing in another project, the Dong Nai River embankment construction project from Hoa An bridge to the border of Vinh Cuu district.
Not only that, along this river there are also many historical and cultural relics associated with the journey of opening up the Southern land. These heritages create a unique cultural picture, connecting the past with the present, gradually creating the identity of the city. Along with preserving and honoring these values, Bien Hoa is not only an administrative center, but also a crystallization of history and culture.
In recent years, to create space for the Dong Nai riverside area as well as prevent riverbank erosion, Dong Nai has implemented many projects to build embankments to reinforce the Dong Nai riverbank through Bien Hoa city.
Deputy Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board Do Bao Nam said that the unit is being assigned as the investor of 4 projects to build embankments to reinforce the Dong Nai riverbank in Bien Hoa city, including: Dong Nai river embankment reinforcement project from Phuoc Lu communal house to residential area along Rach Cat river; Dong Nai river embankment reinforcement project from residential area along Rach Cat river, Thong Nhat ward to wastewater treatment plant No. 2, Tam Hiep ward; Dong Nai river embankment anti-erosion project from Rach Cat bridge to Ghenh bridge on Pho island and Dong Nai river bank reinforcement project, from wastewater treatment plant No. 2, Tam Hiep ward to An Hao bridge, An Binh ward.
These are projects implemented with many goals including: preventing riverbank erosion, stabilizing residential areas and infrastructure, urban beautification, creating a sustainable environment for the area, ensuring flood drainage requirements, preventing flooding, limiting damage caused by floods and ensuring waterway traffic.
Accelerate project implementation
In mid-May, the Dong Nai River Reinforcement Project from Phuoc Lu communal house to residential area along Rach Cat river with a length of nearly 1km was completed after nearly 1.5 years of construction.

According to Mr. Do Bao Nam, with the two projects of Dong Nai riverbank reinforcement embankment from the residential area along Rach Cat river, Thong Nhat ward to Wastewater treatment plant No. 2, Tam Hiep ward and Dong Nai riverbank anti-erosion embankment from Rach Cat bridge to Ghenh bridge on Pho island, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board has planned to complete construction in 2025. To achieve this goal, the unit proposed that Bien Hoa city People's Committee coordinate and speed up the progress of site clearance.
As for the Dong Nai Riverbank Reinforcement Project, from Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2, Tam Hiep Ward to An Hao Bridge, An Binh Ward, since it just started construction in January 2025, the unit is coordinating with the Bien Hoa City Land Fund Development Center to carry out site clearance and urge contractors to carry out construction within the scope of the handed-over site. "According to the plan, this project will be completed in June 2026" - Mr. Do Bao Nam said.
In mid-April, at a meeting to hear progress reports on the Dong Nai Riverbank Reinforcement Embankment Construction Projects, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to speed up the progress of the projects. According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha, among the ongoing projects, there is a project that started 7 years ago, the Dong Nai Riverbank Reinforcement Embankment Project from the residential area along Rach Cat River, Thong Nhat Ward to Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2, Tam Hiep Ward, but has not yet been completed. Therefore, the construction cannot be delayed any longer, and must be accelerated to complete it soon.
