Improve safety skills for students

Traffic safety education and fire safety skills are being innovated from the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year towards vivid practice, instead of just theory. This helps students to actively absorb, remember longer and confidently respond to emergency situations.

Right in the first weeks of the 2025-2026 school year, Dong Nai province's functional forces have closely coordinated with schools to deploy many practical programs, bringing traffic safety and fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) knowledge closer to students.

Timely prevention of "risks"

On September 13, at Dieu Ong Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School (Bu Dang Commune) and on September 18 at Bui Thi Xuan Secondary and High School (Tam Hiep Ward), the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police organized experience sessions with the participation of nearly 2,000 students, teachers, officers and employees. Students were directly instructed on escape skills, how to use fire extinguishers and fire hoses, and participated in handling hypothetical situations.

Along with fire prevention work, the Traffic Police force of Dong Nai Province Police has deployed many synchronous activities to build traffic culture in schools. Extracurricular activities are organized right in the school yard, explaining real-life situations of traffic accidents so that students and parents can clearly see the consequences of violating traffic regulations. Short, easy-to-remember messages are also spread through social networks, becoming a regular reminder for each family.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Trinh, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Dong Nai Provincial Police, said: One of the bright spots in bringing traffic safety knowledge and skills to students is the Traffic Safety School Gate model that has been maintained for many years. During rush hours, the traffic police force coordinates with union members, youth, civil defense and volunteer parents to direct traffic, guide students to walk safely, and remind parents to stop and park according to regulations. Thanks to that, the congestion in front of the school gate has significantly reduced, and traffic safety is ensured.

The propaganda and practice activities on traffic safety and fire prevention by the authorities have received strong support from parents and schools. Direct experience helps students gain a deeper understanding of life skills. Parents, students and schools expect these activities to continue to be replicated.

Nguyen Hoang Hieu (student of Tran Bien High School, Tam Hiep Ward) expressed: I am very excited to participate in the practice and propaganda sessions on traffic safety and life skills organized by the school and the authorities. After studying, I know how to handle the situation initially and am much more confident. This not only helps me protect myself but also helps people around me.

Equipping students with life skills right from the beginning of the school year is not only about teaching them how to protect themselves, but also about building a foundation for a future generation of active, disciplined and responsible citizens. This is a valuable asset that helps students confidently integrate and contribute to the development of Dong Nai province.

Spreading life skills guidance activities

In response to the efforts of the authorities, parents and schools expressed their agreement and appreciation, and also placed high expectations on innovating the method of teaching life skills to students.

Ms. Vu Thi Thuy Van (Tran Bien Ward) said: To effectively educate life skills, there needs to be close coordination between family, school and society. Organizing regular training and practice sessions will help parents become more aware, thereby setting an example for their children. Many parents want traffic safety and fire prevention models to be maintained continuously, not just in batches.

Principal of Le Van Tam Primary School (Long Khanh Ward) Le Thi Phuong Thuy said: The school's Board of Directors clearly determined that life skills education will be systematically integrated into the main curriculum. To do this, the school will coordinate with related units to organize propaganda combining theory with practice, games, and dramatization to make students more interested.

In particular, many opinions believe that strengthening the coordination between other forces such as the police, the Youth Union, etc. can contribute to educating life skills for students. When they step out of the school gate, they will gradually form habits through exemplary actions: obeying traffic laws, preventing fires and explosions, and behaving civilly. The safe and healthy social environment will be a great classroom for students to practice and mature.
