The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to review and report to the Council for appraisal of artifacts and artifact dossiers, and submit to the Prime Minister for recognition of national treasures in the 13th period, 2024 for the gold seal "Hoang De Chi Bao"

Up to now, the assigned agency has completed the dossier to propose recognition as a national treasure for the Kim Bao artifact "Hoang De Chi Bao".

On that basis, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and report to the Council for appraisal of artifacts and artifact dossiers, and submit to the Prime Minister for recognition of national treasures in the 13th period, 2024 for the gold seal "Hoang De Chi Bao".

The golden seal “Hoang De Chi Bao” is currently on display at the Nam Hong Royal Museum (Tu Son City, Bac Ninh Province). Mr. Nguyen The Hong - Director of Nam Hong Royal Museum Company Limited is the owner of this treasure.

The “Hoang De Chi Bao” gold seal is the largest, most beautiful, precious and important gold seal of the Nguyen Dynasty. The seal is 10.4 cm high, weighs 10.78 kg, has a square face, and measures 13.8 x 13.7 cm. The base of the seal is printed with the words “Hoang De Chi Bao” (Emperor’s Treasure).

According to the book "Imperial Code of Dai Nam", the golden seal was used for public and political activities of the Nguyen Dynasty such as festivals, granting grace, pardoning, inspecting localities, and issuing royal decrees to foreign countries.

The “Hoang De Chi Bao” gold seal is among the 14 “kim ngoc, bao ti” (golden seals, jade seals) that Emperor Minh Mang had made during his reign (1820-1841). Of these, 13 are still kept at the Vietnam National Museum of History. The only remaining one is the “Hoang De Chi Bao” seal, which had a difficult fate, but was eventually repatriated to its homeland, creating a complete and perfect collection of Minh Mang era seals.

According to experts, beyond its artistic beauty, the golden seal “Hoang De Chi Bao” carries the symbolic meaning of a dynasty and of Emperor Minh Mang, who expanded the territory and affirmed the position of Dai Nam on the world map.

At the same time, the precious seal is also evidence associated with an important historical event, opening a new era for the country./.
