Proposal to transfer the Agricultural General Hospital to be directly under the Viet Duc Friendship Hospital

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment proposed transferring the Agricultural General Hospital to the Ministry of Health, merging the Cadre School into the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, drastically reducing vocational schools, and dissolving many public service units.

Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang has just signed a document to send to the Prime Minister proposing approval of a plan to rearrange public service units under the ministry.

Accordingly, after the merger of the former Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has 81 public service units. In the first phase, 8 units were merged into 4, the remaining 73 units need to continue to be reorganized to streamline the apparatus and improve operational efficiency.

According to the proposal, 15 research institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will be reorganized into 8 institutes (reducing 7 units). Among them are large organizations such as: Vietnam Institute of Fisheries Science , Vietnam Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Institute of Meteorology - Hydrology, Environment and Marine Sciences.

As for educational and training units, the ministry proposed merging the School of Agricultural and Rural Development Management into the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture (expected to be converted into the Vietnam University of Agriculture). At the same time, maintain and streamline the 6 existing universities.

After the reorganization, the total number of universities under the ministry will be 7, a reduction of 2 units. For the vocational education system, the ministry proposed merging 5 schools, reducing from 25 to 20 schools.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also proposed transferring the Agricultural General Hospital to be directly under the Viet Duc Friendship Hospital - Ministry of Health.

Along with that, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also proposed to arrange and merge a series of public service units.

According to the above plan, the total number of public service units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will be reduced from 81 to 50, equivalent to a reduction of 37.5%. The Ministry proposes to complete the reorganization before September 30.
