Proposal to charge up to 600,000 VND/visitor to Ha Long Bay

The Ha Long Bay Management Board, Quang Ninh Province is the agency assigned to preside over the development of the Ha Long Bay fee collection project. It is currently seeking opinions from organizations and individuals before submitting it to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and approval.

The construction of a new fee collection project at this time is considered necessary and consistent with the policies and orientations for socio-economic development and tourism development of Quang Ninh province.

At the same time, the project also helps meet the requirements of management, conservation and promotion of the values of Ha Long Bay heritage in particular, increasing tourism products for night-time economic development, and increasing revenue from entrance fees.

The funds collected will be reinvested in Ha Long Bay heritage and the general development of the locality.

According to the project content, the proposed fee applies to three sightseeing routes including:

1 - The tour of Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) - Gia Luan (Hai Phong) starts from Ha Long International Passenger Port and Tuan Chau International Passenger Port - Chan Voi Islet - Ba Cua Lagoon - Tung Lam Island - Cap Bai Islet (the final point of the tour is adjacent to Gia Luan, Lan Ha Bay - Hai Phong).

This route applies a fee of 150,000 VND/person/round trip for adults (16 years of age and older) during the visiting hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

For children (from 7 years old to under 16 years old) the fee is reduced by 20% (only 120,000 VND/person/round trip).

For seniors who are Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and over, the fee is reduced by 50% (only 75,000 VND/person/round trip).

For people with severe and extremely severe disabilities and children under 7 years old and under 1.2m tall are free, all times as above apply.

2 - The general tour on Ha Long Bay also departs from Ha Long International Passenger Port and Tuan Chau International Passenger Port. Tourists will be able to take all 4 daytime tour routes according to the regulations in Resolution 62/2017/NQ-HDND; for discovery cruises and other means licensed by competent authorities.

This route applies a fee for adults (16 years old and above) during the visiting hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. of VND 600,000/turn/person.

For children (from 7 years old to under 16 years old) get 20% discount (remaining 480,000 VND/time/person).

For seniors who are Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and over, the fee is reduced by 50% (to 300,000 VND/time/person).

For people with severe and extremely severe disabilities; children under 7 years old and under 1.2m tall are free.

3 - The sightseeing and tourism itinerary along the coast of Ha Long Bay departs from Tuan Chau passenger port - Ha Long international port - Nam Cau Trang port; for restaurant ships and other means of transport licensed by competent authorities.

This route applies a fee of 100,000 VND/person/trip for adults (16 years old and above) during the visiting hours from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

For children (from 7 years old to under 16 years old) get 20% discount (remaining 80,000 VND/time/person).

For seniors who are Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and over, the fee is reduced by 50% (to 50,000 VND/time/person).

For people with severe and extremely severe disabilities; children under 7 years old and under 1.2m tall are free.

Report on collecting fees in July

Currently, this project is collecting opinions from relevant subjects affected by the impact of collecting fees to visit Ha Long Bay scenic spots, expected to be completed and reported to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province in July 2024.
