Hanoi is strange before storm Wipha makes landfall

At 5:30 a.m. on July 22, storm Wipha approached the mainland of our country. However, in Hanoi , the weather was still quite peaceful, not much affected by the storm, people's daily activities were almost normal, not much different from normal days.

The weather in the capital is quite cool at the moment, with only a light drizzle. The surface of Hoan Kiem Lake ripples under the light gusts of wind, creating a quiet scene but hiding a bit of unease before the storm arrives.

Although the storm is only a few hours away from making landfall, in Hanoi, sports activities such as cycling and walking around the lake are still taking place as usual. People leisurely enjoy the cool morning, seemingly not yet feeling the threat of the approaching storm.

At around 6:15 a.m., a corner of West Lake was covered in a clear, cool beauty with an unusually bright sky, the scene became incredibly peaceful at the time when storm Wipha was approaching the mainland.

“I heard that typhoon Wipha would make landfall this morning, but when I woke up and saw that the weather was quite nice, I decided to go to West Lake to exercise as usual,” said a resident on Trich Sai Street.

A traditional market in Hanoi this morning was not as crowded as usual, but many shops still opened early to serve customers.

Many small traders selling ornamental plants on Hoang Hoa Tham Street were not subjective but carefully tied up and covered their shops to prevent the storm from affecting them. The tarpaulins were fixed and the items were neatly arranged to minimize the risk when Typhoon Wipha approached the mainland.

On many streets in Hanoi, roadside trees have been trimmed and cleared by authorities in advance to limit the risk of breaking or falling when storm Wipha makes landfall, ensuring safety for people and traffic.

At around 6:45, the wind began to get stronger, heavy rains and gusts of wind appeared more frequently, making it difficult for people to move around. Umbrellas swayed constantly, and pedestrians hurriedly sought shelter from the strong winds that whipped against the road.
