On the morning of October 18, in Hanoi, the General Department of Defense Intelligence (General Department II), Ministry of National Defense solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam Defense Intelligence Traditional Day (October 25, 1945 - October 25, 2025) and receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal.
General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony. Politburo member and President Luong Cuong; Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, central and local ministries, branches and sectors sent congratulatory flower baskets.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Cong Chinh, Director General of General Department II, reviewed the 80-year journey of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam Defense Intelligence Sector.
Born in the early days of the revolutionary government; growing up with the growth of the Army and the development of the country, Vietnam Defense Intelligence has always been absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the Army, relying on the people and staying close to the enemy, continuously maturing, progressing, excellently completing all assigned tasks, making great contributions to the cause of national liberation struggle, protecting the Fatherland, building the country and fulfilling noble international obligations, writing heroic pages of history of Vietnam Defense Intelligence.
In recognition of these great achievements and contributions, the Party and State have awarded the National Defense Intelligence Service many noble awards: the Gold Star Order, two Ho Chi Minh Orders, the First Class Independence Order, the First Class Military Exploit Order, twice conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; many collectives and individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and many other noble awards.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its traditional day, the Defense Intelligence Service was honored to be awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and State for the third time. Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, highly appreciated, warmly commended, and congratulated the feats, achievements, and glorious traditions of the Defense Intelligence Service; and congratulated the General Department on being awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and State on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its traditional day.
The General Secretary affirmed that over 80 years of building, fighting and growing, generations of National Defense Intelligence officers and soldiers have always demonstrated steadfast political will, absolute loyalty to the Party's revolutionary cause, silently fought, proactively and resolutely attacked the enemy, steadfastly overcame all challenges and difficulties, and excellently completed assigned tasks.

Those silent sacrifices have contributed to beautifying the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army. The "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", the intelligence soldiers fighting on the intelligence front - with their loyalty, honesty, dedication and sacrifices have built and nurtured the special affection and trust of our Party, State, Army and People.
Recently, the Standing Party Committee and the commander of General Department II have led and directed the successful completion of many central political tasks; promptly advised the leaders of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense to make correct decisions, flexibly and effectively handle situations, and avoid being passive or surprised about strategy.
The entire industry has regularly paid attention to building its force, focusing on strengthening and perfecting the organization in the direction of "streamlining, efficiency, and proper functions". The Party Committee of the General Department is always clean and strong.
Regarding the direction and tasks in the coming time, the General Secretary assessed that the world is currently in a period of epochal change; the world and regional situation will continue to fluctuate in a complex manner.

In addition to advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges intertwined in the country, posing increasingly high requirements and tasks for national construction and defense, including the tasks of Defense Intelligence.
To successfully complete its tasks in the new situation, the General Secretary requested that the National Defense Intelligence Agency must constantly take care to strengthen its class and revolutionary character, always affirming that it is an absolutely loyal and especially trustworthy force of the Party, State, Army and people; continue to perform well its role as a strategic intelligence agency of the Party, State and a specialized military intelligence agency of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
Defense Intelligence must serve more effectively and efficiently the leaders of the Party, State, Army and local ministries and branches in assessing and assessing the situation, determining policies and strategies and handling situations; strive to further improve the quality of operations, maintain the special trust of the leaders of the Party, State and Army in the Defense Intelligence sector.
The General Secretary requested the sector to regularly review the organization and apparatus, perfect the organizational structure in the direction of "streamlining, efficiency, and proper functions"; ensure increasing compatibility between quantity and quality, between force components, between functions and tasks with scale, organizational quality and task performance capability, between current task performance forces and adjacent and subsequent forces; build a solid and flexible Intelligence posture, maximizing the combined strength of methods and forces.

The Defense Intelligence Sector must always focus on building a contingent of revolutionary intelligence officers, taking that as the foundation in building a revolutionary intelligence force; building a contingent of officers with strong political will, sharp professional vision and thinking, qualifications and specialized knowledge commensurate with their responsibilities and tasks, with reasonable quantity and increasingly high quality, meeting the requirements of both immediate and long-term tasks.
The General Secretary expressed his confidence that under the leadership of the Party, and the direct leadership of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and General Department II with its 80-year glorious history, with its potential, strength, and the coordination, support, and assistance of all levels and sectors, the Defense Intelligence Service will overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully complete all assigned tasks, continue to write golden pages of tradition, and forever be worthy of the trust, love, and pride of the Party, State, Army, and People.
