Former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong passed away

Due to old age and poor health, comrade Tran Phuong - former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister) - passed away at 6:02 a.m. on October 18, 2025.

Comrade Tran Phuong (real name Vu Van Dung) was born on November 1, 1927, in Xuan Duc commune, My Van district, Hung Yen province (now Duong Hao commune, Hung Yen province).

He was an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 4th term, and a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 5th term; former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister); Minister of Internal Trade (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade); and Vice Chairman of the State Planning Committee (now the Ministry of Finance ).

After a period of illness, despite the dedicated efforts of the Party, the State, and a team of professors and doctors, and the devoted care of his family, due to his advanced age and weakened health, he passed away at 6:02 AM on October 18, 2025, at the Central Military Hospital 108.

Details regarding the memorial service, funeral ceremony, and burial of Comrade Tran Phuong will be announced later.
