Dele Alli has defended himself after receiving a red card in his Como debut, while also affirming his determination to conquer glory with the Serie A rookie team.

Coach Cesc Fabregas gave Dele his debut in the 1-2 loss to AC Milan on March 16, but things quickly turned into a nightmare. The former Tottenham midfielder was sent off after less than 10 minutes. He received a straight red card for fouling Ruben Loftus-Cheek. After the match, Fabregas criticized his student in frustration.

Most recently, Alli responded: "The feeling of being on the field is special because I understand my journey very well. When I entered the field, I just focused on helping the team. We were 1-2 down, and I wanted to make an impact, score or assist to change the situation. For me, it was a tactical foul, only worthy of a yellow card."

"I didn't mean any harm or tackle violently. If you freeze the moment the sole of the boot touches the opponent's calf, it looks dangerous, but in reality there was no strong impact," he added.

Despite a disappointing debut, Alli is confident about his future at Como after signing an 18-month contract. "I hope to achieve a lot of success. I want to aim for big things because I believe Como has great potential and I want to be part of that journey," the former Spurs man stressed.

Dele joined Como in December 2023 but had to wait patiently for his chance to play. Now he faces another spell on the sidelines due to suspension. The defeat to Milan left Como in 13th place in Serie A, just seven points above the relegation zone.
