At 1:00 a.m. on July 20, authorities were present at the old wharf area (Hon Gai) to assist in bringing the bodies recovered from the capsized Ha Long Bay ship ashore.
Above, a crowd of relatives stood waiting for news.
Ms. Ha (a relative of the victim) said that her cousin's family of 4 people were traveling on the Green Bay 58 ship and unfortunately had an accident. Currently, her nephew (10 years old) was lucky to escape and is being treated at Bai Chay Hospital.
"The bodies of my mother and sister have been taken to the funeral home for handover procedures, but so far there has been no news of my father. My family is waiting, hoping to find my sister to bring her back to her family. We are expected to return to Hanoi in the morning," said Ms. Ha.
Talking about the moment she heard the bad news, Ms. Ha was shocked because she did not think it would happen to her own relative.
"Yesterday afternoon, when the news of the ship capsized, I read and followed the news and called my brother but no one answered. I was so worried, I followed the list of passengers on the ship and was stunned when I saw the information about the victims," Ha said absentmindedly.
As soon as the bad news came, her family took two cars from Hanoi to Quang Ninh to look for their relatives.
At 2:00 a.m., the authorities brought the two bodies ashore and took them by ambulance to the funeral home of Bai Chay Hospital to complete the handover procedures to their relatives.
Authorities and ambulances are on duty at the port area.
Early this morning, relatives were still waiting for the bodies of the victims to be handed over inside the funeral home of Bai Chay Hospital. An atmosphere of mourning enveloped the place.
Dozens of ambulances were on standby inside the funeral home’s yard, ready to assist families in bringing the victims home. Before leaving, the families were instructed by authorities to complete all necessary procedures and paperwork.
A serious tourist boat capsized early this afternoon (July 19) in Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh). Authorities said dozens of people died and are missing after the accident. Rescue efforts were carried out by authorities through the night.
At 9:50 p.m. the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Vu Dai Thang were present at the scene to direct search and rescue work at the scene of the capsized ship.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested that the authorities coordinate closely and make every effort to carry out the search and rescue operation tonight, not waiting until tomorrow morning when the tide and currents change. The highest goal is to search as quickly as possible in the hope of rescuing more survivors and finding all the victims' bodies.
