The conversion method used is Percentile Equating, from which equivalent standard scores are found between 3 admission methods: talent selection, TSA thinking assessment test score selection, and 2025 high school graduation exam score selection. The data is the score distribution of these 3 methods, in which the high school graduation exam score distribution takes the base combination A00 (math, physics, chemistry).
Below is the correlation percentile table . Standard scores between admission methods of Hanoi University of Science and Technology:
The specific percentile values of the above table will be calculated based on the talent selection scores, TSA test scores, 2025 high school graduation exam scores and academic results of students admitted according to the corresponding admission methods.
For other high school graduation exam score combinations other than the original combination A00 above, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will also calculate based on the corresponding difference in scores announced by the Ministry of Education and Training along with the high school graduation exam scores.
From the correlation table with the specific percentile score range values, the conversion function between different admission methods will be interpolated. Accordingly, from the standard score x belonging to the percentile range (a, b) of this admission method, it will be interpolated equivalently to the standard score y belonging to the percentile range (c, d) corresponding to another admission method according to the following formula:
To help candidates understand, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has provided an example of how to calculate equivalent benchmark scores for 2024 data. For example, if major A has a benchmark score for the high school graduation exam combination A00 between 28.67 and 30 points (percentile 1), the equivalent benchmark scores for other methods will be: talent 1.2 (according to SAT, scale 1680) from about 1630 - 1680; talent 1.3 (scale 100) from about 96.10 - 100; TSA thinking assessment (scale 100) from about 83.62 - 100.
Or if industry B has a standard score for the high school graduation exam combination A00 in the range of 27.14 - 28.04 (percentile 3), the standard scores for other methods will be: talent selection 1.2 (SAT) in the range of 1,500 - 1600; talent selection 1.3 in the range of 73.87 - 87.20; TSA thinking assessment in the range of 68.55 - 74.77.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology gives a more concrete example, MS2 (microelectronics and nanotechnology). In 2024, this major has a standard score for thinking assessment of 71.68 points, in the 3rd percentile. Applying the interpolation formula to calculate the equivalent standard score of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the standard score for the high school graduation exam for the A00 combination of MS2 major is 27.59; the 1.3 talent selection is 80.58 points...
The following is a table of percentiles of standard scores between admission methods in 2024 that Hanoi University of Science and Technology has built as an example for candidates to better understand this year's method:
