Duy Tan University's Pharmacy & Pharmacology field is ranked 251-300 in the world according to QS 2025 |
This is the result of international cooperation, improving the quality of training at the school over the past many years. Currently, many large medical schools in the US and many domestic and international organizations have continued to develop their connections over the years with Duy Tan University to build standard training programs, specifically:
• University of Pittsburgh (UPitt): ranked 7th in the Top 15 schools with leading medical research in the US (according to the rankings of the US Institute of Health - NIH),
• University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC): the school has the largest medical and pharmaceutical training program in the United States (in terms of number of students and majors),
• Duke-NUS Medical School (Singapore),
• Ben Gurion University (Israel),
• Burapha University,
• Khon Kaen University, and Mahidol University (Thailand),
• Dong-A University (Korea),• Hue University,
• FPT Long Chau Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company,
• …
On that basis, DTU students study the following majors:
- Pharmacy: with major in Pharmacy (University), and
- Biotechnology will acquire advanced and updated knowledge along with the modern laboratory and practice system that Duy Tan University has worked hard to build over many years for these two majors.
Along with the opportunity to access advanced training programs, field trips to research institutes, companies, and production facilities help students gain a solid knowledge foundation and a highly competitive opportunity when entering the labor market.
Specifically, Thai Hoa Hop, from his second year of university, was able to participate in a survey team to survey the biodiversity of rare dragonfly species in Vietnam under the guidance of Dr. Phan Quoc Toan - Director of the Center for Insect and Parasitology Research, Duy Tan University. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about ecosystems, hone their field survey skills, and develop species conservation methods. Or a group of students including Nguyen Tran Kim Long, Truong Anh Tai, and Ho Minh Thu Ngan, from their first year, were able to participate in the project to conserve biodiversity of medicinal plants and develop livelihoods for people in the Buffer Zone of Kon Ka Kinh National Park.

DTU Biotechnology students regularly go on field trips to learn about environmental ecosystems. |
From this environment, Duy Tan students have reaped many great awards. Notably, the second prize of student Vo Van Hoa with the topic "Research on encapsulating Baeckea frutescens L. essential oil by Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells for application in controlling mosquito larvae transmitting dengue fever" at the 2023 Ministry-level Student Scientific Research Award. The biological product of yeast microcapsules encapsulating Baeckea frutescens essential oil successfully prepared by Vo Van Hoa has contributed to controlling mosquito larvae in small field conditions, natural breeding grounds of mosquitoes in wastewater systems, and water storage points.
Consecutive Q1 articles from students from the lecture hall
With efforts in each lesson with clear goals, Duy Tan students have been recognized with many ISI international publications, specifically:
Student Le Nguyen Gia Thi and his colleagues in the Biotechnology research group published a Q1 article with an IF index of 4.6 in the prestigious international journal Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio system) on the study of Cordyceps militaris medicinal mushroom cultivation with the title "First report of emerging fungal pathogens of Cordyceps militaris in Vietnam". The topic was awarded the "Outstanding Poster Report" prize at the 5th National Mycology Conference held in Hanoi on November 26, 2023.
Student Le Thi Thanh My (3rd year) is the co-author of the article "Rapid in vitro propagation and bioactive compounds evaluation in Polygonum multiflorum Thunb" published in Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture (Q1, IF: 2.3) in 2024 with research to find the most optimal environment for rapid propagation of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb through in vitro culture, while evaluating the biological active ingredients of the plant - a valuable medicinal herb with high value in traditional medicine, opening up great potential for the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
Student Nguyen Tran Kim Long (2nd year) excelled as a co-author of the article “Rhizome induction and proliferation in Anoectochilus lylei for biomass and bioactive compounds accumulation” published in the same journal Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture (Q1, IF: 2.3) in 2025 with research focusing on optimizing the environmental conditions for culturing root biomass of Anoectochilus lylei - a rare medicinal herb, making an important contribution to the conservation and development of natural medicinal resources.
Duy Tan students with ISI international publications while still in school
Duy Tan lecturer with valuable research, supporting startups
Enthusiastic in training with the desire to bring students of Pharmacy (University) and Biotechnology the highest quality learning and research environment, Duy Tan University lecturers have also left their mark with awards and many meaningful researches.
Receiving the Golden Globe Award in 2020, Dr. Ho Thanh Tam - Head of the Department of Biotechnology is diligently researching precious plant varieties in the country, especially the research topic with the goal of mass-producing Ngoc Linh Ginseng by tissue culture and root biomass cultivation to extract precious active ingredients in ginseng on an industrial scale, which is achieving many good results. This source of raw materials can be used in the cosmetics, beauty, functional food or confectionery industries in all price segments that the supply from naturally grown ginseng cannot meet.

Modern equipment is maximizing its usefulness in serving the learning and research of DTU students. |
Pharmacy students (University) during their studies at Duy Tan will practice in simulated pharmacies under the guidance of the school's own specialized pharmacists. Students will be carefully instructed on how to consult, instruct on drug use, memorize drug groups, record drugs in the drug compartment including prescription drugs and non-prescription drugs, analyze drug use for clinical cases, learn how to manage a pharmacy, update knowledge of Pharmacy, etc.
For students studying Biotechnology at Duy Tan University: they will be exposed to and regularly practice on more modern machinery and equipment, serving the research work of the school's specialized research centers and institutes such as:
• Center for Molecular Biology,
• Center for Insects and Parasites,
• Center for Advanced Chemistry,
• Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology,
• Cell Technology Laboratory,
• …
From this environment, students are provided with full theoretical and practical professional knowledge, trained in professional skills and practical experience through laboratory internships, natural internships, production internships, and access to factories, production facilities as well as research institutes and universities collaborating with Duy Tan University to gain solid knowledge and confidently enter the labor market.
