In 2025, Vietnam National University , Hanoi (VNU) will enroll 21,125 full-time university students in more than 150 majors/training programs, including 11 new training programs that are designed towards internationalization, raising foreign language output standards, teaching partly or completely in English and conducting international accreditation, and some training programs on semiconductor microchips.

This year, VNU has unified three admission methods:
First: Direct admission, priority admission according to Article 8 of the Admission Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and candidates who are subject to priority admission according to the regulations of VNU.
Second: Using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam to meet the input quality assurance threshold set by VNU.
Third: Candidates whose HSA test results of VNU meet the input quality assurance threshold set by this unit.
In addition to the three methods above, some units with specific training programs and majors or using multiple admission methods at the same time or using other admission methods to recruit for a major or group of majors must determine their own conversion rules to a 30-point scale, publicly announce the conversion rules, input thresholds and admission scores, and conditions for receiving application documents according to the principles and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training .
These units develop detailed plans with expected conversion tables and explanations and report to the Director of VNU for review and approval before announcing the information to candidates and society.
Particularly for the admission plan combining international language certificates with high school academic results, in addition to the general conditions specified in the Regulations on regular university admission of VNU, the unit must add the admission condition that candidates must achieve a minimum score of 8 points in math or a score of 2 subjects (math, literature) of at least 15 in the 2025 high school graduation exam.
For foreign language certificates, units can convert them as a subject in the admission combination with the weighted score not exceeding 50%.
In addition, units can consider adding points to admission combinations without foreign languages for candidates with international English certificates IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5, TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 72 or other international foreign language certificates accepted by the Ministry of Education and Training, reaching a minimum level of level 4 according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam, the specific bonus points are as follows:
Level 6: add up to 2.0 points;
Level 5: add up to 1.5 points;
Level 4: add up to 1.0 point.
For units that do not independently consider admission based on the results of SAT, ACT or A-Level exams, they may consider adding points for candidates with high results in SAT, ACT or A-Level exams with an additional score of no more than 02 points (the gap between the scores is 0.5).
