(QBĐT) - In the border commune of Thuong Trach (Bo Trach district), the Ma Coong people living in 18 remote and nearby villages always have a very special affection for the soldiers in green uniforms. One of the young officers of the Con Roang Border Guard Post, "remembered by the people when they leave, loved by the people when they stay," is Senior Lieutenant Pham The Son (born in 1995), Team Leader of the Mass Mobilization Team and Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union.
"Four together" with the people
When mentioning Lieutenant Pham The Son, the Ma Coong people in the villages of Ca Roong, Con Roang, Cu Ton, Cooc... all say: "Soldier Son is very good!" The head of Con Roang village, Dinh Doong, recounted: "The village has 62 households and 265 people. In recent years, thanks to the Con Roang Border Guard Post located near the village, and thanks to officers like Lieutenant Son coming to the village to 'guide and instruct,' mobilizing the people to build a clean and beautiful village; focusing on developing livestock farming; participating in protecting the heritage forest... the lives of the people have gradually stabilized, and there are no longer any starving households."
“Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, as a border guard stationed in the border area, I, along with the collective of Con Roang Border Guard Post, have always maintained a high level of vigilance and readiness for combat. Vigilance alone is not enough; we must also make the people vigilant and assist us and our unit in our work. Secondly, we must strengthen our organization and work plans more regularly. Thirdly, we must be united, closely united, both internally and between the military and the people. Being stationed in many areas inhabited by ethnic minorities, we must fully implement ethnic policies and do it skillfully. Fourthly, we must strive to study politics , professional skills, military affairs, culture, and current events. Fifthly, the emulation movement must be persistent and continuous… From that, I have determined my ideological and political stance to be firm and unwavering; to live, work, and study according to the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh; and to follow the example of General Vo Nguyen Giap,” Pham The Son shared.
To better implement the "four together" principle – eating together, living together, working together, and speaking the local language – and stemming from his position of being constantly close to the people, Lieutenant Pham The Son boldly advised the Party Committee and the Command of the Border Guard Post; and the local Party committee and government to successfully organize 21 "Borderland Lessons" programs with over 5,000 students, teachers, and local people participating. Through each lesson, he introduced the Border Guard Law; territorial sovereignty , border lines, and national boundary markers to the people in the border area; the glorious historical traditions of the nation, the Army, and the Border Guard; and encouraged 540 students from ethnic minority communities to return to school.
Officers of the People's Mobilization Team led by Lieutenant Pham The Son, in coordination with other departments at Con Roang Border Guard Post, have strengthened their presence at the grassroots level, both providing hands-on guidance to help people develop their economy and intensifying propaganda efforts to raise awareness and resolutely fight against the schemes and tactics of hostile forces that exploit ethnic issues to destabilize the political situation at the local level. They have also mobilized the people to sign commitments to build, manage, and protect the Vietnam-Laos border in a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developing manner.
Towards a prosperous life
Although the lives of the Ma Coong people in the border commune of Thuong Trach have changed significantly in recent years, overall, they still face many difficulties. Besides the task of firmly protecting border security and sovereignty, the Border Guard troops at the Ca Roong and Con Roang Border Guard Posts always work alongside the local Party committee and government in poverty alleviation. As Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union branch, Pham The Son has more favorable conditions to effectively advise and organize programs such as "Winter Volunteer - Spring Volunteer," "Youth Month," "March Border Month," "Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign," "Saturday Volunteer Day," and "Green Sunday"...
