The forces participating in the parade are divided into 87 groups, including: 4 honor guard groups; 13 mass groups; 22 army groups; 3 militia and guerilla groups; 17 police groups; 14 military vehicle and artillery groups; 9 police special vehicle groups and the red flag group. After passing the stage, the forces will spread out in 7 directions, through the central streets of Hanoi.

Participating in the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on the morning of September 2 at Ba Dinh Square, the Vietnam People's Army forces included 26 military blocs along with militia and guerilla blocs; and 14 military artillery blocs.
The police force paraded through the streets with 17 pedestrian blocks and 9 special vehicle blocks.
People waited eagerly for the parade. Especially for the veterans, the elderly and the young, the emotion and pride were reflected in every look and joyful face.
