Go everywhere to get a free haircut

For many years, Le Vung Barber Shop (138E/18 Alley Lien To 12-20, Area 1, Tan An Ward) has been implementing the program "Going everywhere to give free haircuts". From urban to rural areas, wherever needed, the shop's staff will be present, contributing to supporting the needy and those in need of free haircuts.

Le Vung Barber Shop offers free haircuts in Thoi Lai commune in August 2025.

We had the opportunity to accompany the staff of Le Vung Barber Shop on several trips with volunteer groups to give gifts to the needy in rural communes. Recently, there was a program to give gifts to disadvantaged students in Thoi Lai commune in August 2025. In the commune committee hall, students received gifts, while outside the hall, staff in orange uniforms were dedicated to cutting hair for those in need, from students to parents. Mr. Phan Truong Nghia, a resident of Thoi Lai commune, said: "I took my child to receive charity gifts, saw that there was a free haircut, so I went in to try it. After the haircut, I was very satisfied. Today, my father and I are both very happy!"

Mr. Le Van Vung, owner of Le Vung Barber Shop, said: "The shop was established in 2018 and since then, in addition to business, I have regularly carried out the zero-dong haircut program on the streets to support the community and also for employees and students to improve their skills, participate in supporting and sharing with the needy with their own expertise." The shop is willing to coordinate with clubs and volunteer groups to go to gift-giving locations to give free haircuts to people. Over the past 7 years, the shop has traveled to many places in and outside Can Tho City to carry out the program.

In addition to volunteer groups, Le Vung Barber Shop also has two fixed zero-dong haircut locations: at Dinh Binh Thuy every Friday afternoon and at Cai Cui Port roundabout every Tuesday afternoon. Both locations cut hair from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

In particular, Le Vung Barber Shop also opens a 0-dong haircut course once a year, providing free training for students in difficult circumstances. Each batch accepts about 10 students. After finishing the course, students can choose to stay at the shop to work or leave to become independent. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tai, the shop's main barber, shared: "I am one of the students who received 0-dong training, and after finishing the course, I have been working for the shop for 2 years now. I have accompanied the 0-dong haircut program to many places, from urban to rural areas, remote areas... wherever there is a need, we go. Although there is no remuneration, everyone is happy to contribute a small part to society and spread the shop's positive work to the community."

Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet, Head of the Big Hands Volunteer Club and Ms. Thuy Dung, Head of the Can Tho Lotus Volunteer Group, both expressed their gratitude for Le Vung Barber Shop's enthusiastic cooperation in social charity activities. Because "many hands make a sound", each person has a heart, joining forces and joining hands to contribute to making good things in life.
