Not only displaying lacquer, oil, acrylic paintings... with many rich themes such as horses, cats, flowers, women and Hanoi's Old Quarter, the exhibition also introduces memorabilia associated with the artist's creative process such as brushes, trowels, watches, handbags..., along with derivative products inspired by the artist's works, made by his students.

In his later years, Cong Quoc Ha turned to painting in a more free, airy and abstract style. Many works in this period became especially vivid, with more vibrant and bright colors.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is a large lacquer painting depicting a deserted Hanoi during the Covid-19 pandemic, where a cat leisurely strolls along a gilded street – a metaphor for an indomitable spirit of optimism. Ms. Hoang Anh shared that this is a positive message of life that her father always passed on: “The most difficult time is the best time to succeed.”

He painted the most Hanoi streets, equal to all other themes combined, followed by women. If in the past he painted streets and women to meet market demand, in the last years of his life, the artist painted these themes in an abstract style, completely for himself. There, viewers encounter another Cong Quoc Ha, full of thought, contemplation and personality, like the "manifesto" he named one of his last paintings: "Raising the world in my own way".

The works are selected for display based on personal feelings, not following a fixed theme, so that viewers can see a diverse Cong Quoc Ha, with the inner depth and thoughts of a studious and well-read person, a sensitive artist but always maintaining an optimistic and cheerful spirit.

In particular, at 5:00 p.m. on August 2, the last afternoon of the exhibition, the artist's family, in collaboration with Disa Art Show, will organize a special art program, combining music , painting and fashion, as a tribute to the talented artist who loved music and performing arts.

Artist Cong Quoc Ha was born in 1955 in Hanoi. He graduated from the Lacquer Department of the College of Industrial Fine Arts (now Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts) in 1979.

In more than 40 years of painting, he has been famous for his themes of women, old streets and flowers, with his own style, minimalist lines, focusing on composition, using bright and emotional colors. He is one of the artists who sold many paintings to foreign tourists during the period when Vietnam first opened its doors.

Artist Cong Quoc Ha also participated in illustrating many newspapers and magazines. He was also a familiar illustrator for Hanoi Moi Newspaper publications for decades.

Before his death at the end of 2024, he held many exhibitions in Vietnam and internationally.
