One weekend morning in residential group 7, Doan Ket ward, Lai Chau city, when many people had not yet started a new day, the women in the Women's Union were busy collecting bottles and scrap paper. Not to sell for money, but to raise funds for the Union's activities through the model of "Turning trash into money". Ms. Deo Thi Vien - Head of the Association of Residential Group 7, Doan Ket ward shared: "Based on the fact that many types of recyclable waste such as plastic bottles, scrap paper... are thrown away, we have mobilized members to classify and collect recyclable waste to raise funds for activities. The model of "Turning trash into money" not only contributes to cleaning the living environment, but the Association also has a source of funds to visit members in difficulty and support poor but studious children. More importantly, people's awareness of environmental hygiene has been significantly raised".
It is not difficult to see women planting flowers together on the roadside, organizing folk dance competitions, or sharing economic experiences in the Association's activities. The "1+1" models (1 member promoting 1 woman to participate in Association activities; 1 Party member helping and introducing 1 mass person for the Party to consider admission; 1 member with good circumstances tutoring 1 member with difficult circumstances); "3 have, 3 know" (including pioneer members, having monthly activities, having resources to organize activities and knowing members' faces, knowing members' circumstances, knowing members' needs) are not just slogans but have truly become emotional bridges in residential areas.
Members of the Women's Union of Residential Group No. 7, Doan Ket Ward (Lai Chau City) collect recyclable waste to sell to raise funds.
To care for members in difficult circumstances, in the first 6 months of the year, the Association mobilized organizations, individuals, philanthropists, cadres, and women's union members to support Tet for children, women, and people in difficult circumstances with a total value of 56 million VND (of which 26,950,000 VND in cash and the rest were necessities such as: cotton blankets, light bulbs, cooking oil, MSG, fish sauce, instant noodles, cakes, candies, etc.). The City Women's Union also actively participated in supporting the Provincial Women's Union to organize a "0 VND" booth in the program "Border Spring Warms the Hearts of the Villagers" on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025 in Sin Ho district. Co-organized: the program "Spring in the border region - Tet with love between the army and the people", "0 VND" booths, "Sharing sale - happy profit" at Can Cau village, Sung Phai commune for 145 households in Can Cau, Sin Chai, Sung Phai villages, worth 55,100,000 VND.
The model of “Parents accompanying their children to learn English to become global citizens” has contributed to the successful implementation of the movement “The whole country competes to build a learning society, promoting lifelong learning in the period of 2023 - 2030 in Lai Chau province”. Along with maintaining K1 and K2 classes, there are currently nearly 100 students who are women's union members who have registered to attend K3 class - a basic English class... Opening up opportunities to access foreign languages for both parents and students, especially ethnic minorities.
The Women's Union of Can Cau village, Sung Phai commune propagates and mobilizes members to well implement the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws.
A noteworthy point in the first 6 months of 2025 is that the “Godmother” activity has connected and cared for 19 orphans and children in difficult circumstances. Also during this time, a new house worth 176 million VND was handed over to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - a single mother in Group 6, Quyet Tien Ward.
The year 2025 is a time of many changes in administrative organization with the implementation of the two-level local government model. This also poses challenges for the Association, especially in maintaining activities and connecting members in merged units. In addition, the Association at all levels also proactively grasps the thoughts and lives of members, especially women working far away and ethnic minority women, to provide timely support and guidance. The Association also encourages Association officials to self-study technology and improve their skills to suit the current digital transformation trend.
The practical work of Lai Chau city women has been contributing to making society better every day. With a sense of responsibility, sharing and aspiration to rise up, they have been and are a solid support for women; worthy of being a core force, trusted by the people.
