In the semi-finals of the Vietnam International Challenge, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh overcame tough Indonesian opponents Muh Putra Erwiansyah - Daniel Edgar Marvino. In the finals, they had to face very strong Japanese opponents Kazuki Shibata - Naoki Yamada.
On the world rankings, Dinh Hoang - Dinh Manh are only ranked 139th. They are not even seeded at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025 despite being the host.
Meanwhile, their opponents Shibata and Yamada are ranked 80th and are the fourth seeds.
However, in game 1, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh played excellently and calmly. With the home field advantage, they won 21-19 in game 1. In game 2, the Japanese pair affirmed their class by winning 21-15, bringing the match to the deciding game 3.
Here, the Vietnamese tennis pair came back strongly and soon created an unbelievable gap of 10-1. Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh then won 21-15 and were crowned champions.
This is the first time in history that Vietnam has won the men's doubles championship at an International Challenge level tournament under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) system.
Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh's journey this year was also very convincing. They overcame the third seed Aizawa - Sano in (Japan) in the round of 32. After that, they continued to beat Hung Keui Chun - Law Cheuk Him (Hong Kong), Thanawin Madee - Wachirawit Sothon (Thailand) and then Muh Putra Erwiansyah - Daniel Edgar Marvino (Indonesia) to reach the final.
Men's doubles is also the only event in which Vietnam won a ticket to the final at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025.
