Diva Coco Lee passed away at the age of 48.

Speaking to ETtoday, Nancy Lee, Coco Lee's older sister, revealed that the singer had suffered from severe depression for many years. On July 2nd, she attempted suicide at her home and was rushed to the hospital by family members. After five days in a coma, despite intensive treatment, Coco Lee did not survive.

"I am honored to have such an outstanding younger sister like Coco Lee. I am grateful that God has given my family such a wonderful angel like her. I hope she is living happily wherever she is, free from the torment of depression," Nancy Lee shared.

News of Coco Lee's death has shocked public opinion in China. She was known as an energetic artist, always positive and cheerful whenever she appeared. Coco Lee (Chinese name: Li Wen) was born in 1975 in Hong Kong, but was raised in the United States. She has a vast musical repertoire with many hit songs, most notably "A Love Before Time" from Ang Lee's film *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon*. Coco Lee was also the first Chinese singer to perform at the Academy Awards.

The singer was once featured on FHM magazine's list of the world's sexiest women and was praised as: "The sexiest R&B artist in Asia."
