The report and presentations at the conference said that Economic - Defense Group 78 is stationed and carries out its tasks in 11 hamlets and villages of Mo Rai commune, Sa Thay district and Ia Dom commune, Ia H'Drai district ( Kon Tum province), with a 51.1km long border with 17 ethnic groups living, of which ethnic minorities account for more than 74%. The socio-economic conditions and awareness of the people are still limited, the security situation has many potential complex factors.

Deeply aware of the position, role and importance of mass mobilization and special propaganda work, the Party Committee and Command of Economic - Defense Group 78 have implemented many policies, measures, models and good practices, effectively performing the function of "working army" and "fighting" tasks in peacetime.

Notably, the agency and unit have been directed to regularly stay close to the people, stay close to the locality, work together, and speak the local language to propagate and mobilize the local people to strictly follow the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, eliminate backward customs, promote national cultural identity, and build cultural villages and hamlets. The unit has coordinated to organize a Jrai language class for 150 cadres and employees; organized dozens of propaganda sessions for thousands of people on the Border Law, the Military Service Law, the Drug Prevention and Control Law, the Marriage and Family Law, etc.

Implementing many models and programs to support people in socio-economic development and social security care such as: Mobilizing resources to support the elimination of 39 temporary and dilapidated houses for workers and people; building 3 "Houses of Love 78" from contributions of officers and employees of the unit and 7 other houses from support from Army Corps 15 and benefactors; donating the "Sunshine of the Village" project to the locality with a value of 278 million VND; supporting poor and near-poor households to develop their breeding herd from 38 to 52 cows, helping many families escape poverty sustainably.
